This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen so far. yes it isn't a complicated creature, but the continuous shapes, effort, and time that goes into makes it so beautiful.

WarlordX7 The paper is actually thinner than normal printer paper (This one is 60 gsm, printer paper is 80 gsm) but it sounds like that because it has a foil layer.

Endorse your idea sensi Nakashima This video is very illustrative, not to lose several times that is where we get stuck and probably several of us cost us about 10 hours to folding the model are we like as seen when the video runs at normal speed. Luckily we have not given up and we could finish the whole tessellation collapsed. In conclusion I can say that the acorn is a very entertaining and perfect model for this holiday season. With 3 or 4 acorns adorn the Christmas tree. Thumbs up the video thanks

First did with 16 divisions. Helped me to understand the structure. Then did with 32 divisions. Hurrah! I did it. Found a few missteps by holding it up to light so I could correct before collapsing next layer. Will do another with better paper & super accurate precreasing (I hope). Thank you for great video. Lovely model.

The amount of folds won't really affect the outcome, correct? Instead of 32 folds for each side, I can do less (ex. 16), right?
@tinmendez4121
@tinmendez4121 9 жыл бұрын
+Lisote it would affect the size of the finish fold. I tried to do it with 16, it looks too small and the effect wasn't quite there because the pattern wasn't as apparent if it would have been repeated more.

Just a few more folds and you will be left with just six single triangles sticking out at the edges which can easily be folded in, then you will have only the stacked hexagons in the correct pattern visible - nothing else sticking out.

I mean a structure that, if you pull for example in the vertical direction, the structure won't (or neary) expand in the horizontal direction. Vice versa, if you would pull in the horizontal direction, the structure's dimentions stays (almost) the same in the vertical direction.

I don't have particularly sweaty hands (!) but any large or complicated pieces like this sometimes don't work out as well as I'd like because my finger tips are too... oily? Or rather they're just warm, and the heat makes the paper more fragile. I always wash my hands first, but I tend to use 'tools' a lot more. Annoying.

I thought there are gonna be near-impossible parts…but it’s just dividing the paper into 32 sections! Which I don’t really like to do, by the way. Overall, amazing model! (Except the dividing part lol, but that’s necessary so I won’t really care)
