Taras, you should use FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth. It looks like you aren't using food grade from my quick look at the bag. It's safe to eat and won't contaminate the honey if a bit of it somehow makes its way into your hives. Just a suggestion. 😉
@JohnHunterGR8 жыл бұрын
You need to get the roof down for winter and also you need to make the bee colony as much tight as you can either wise they will be freeze to death in temperatures bellow zero. Remove any frame that they can't cover at all and store them in freezer to kill any bacteria

What beetles do to the hive? Eat the honey? 😟😟
@suhasdara30408 жыл бұрын
The beetles transmit a very deadly disease (deadly to bees; harmless to humans) to the bees which makes the bees immunity lower and then they get infected with some sorts of bee-affecting viruses or bacteria and eventually they die off. It's worse if pesticides of humans are used when the beetles are around. It worsens the bee's immunity in the presence of beetles.
@numbertwelve86278 жыл бұрын
The beetles and their larvae eat their way through pretty much everything in the hive - wax, honey, and brood. They also defecate in the hive, spoiling the honey they don't end up eating (bees won't do that in the hive unless they're sick), which can weaken a colony and even destroy a weak colony. They're also quite good flyers, so expecting no beetles in a hive right next to an infected one was rather... optimistic.

Pamela Schramke what are the beetles doing?
@pamelaflirtyskunk76988 жыл бұрын
Tortaler Wahnsinn The beetles can cause serious stress to the honey bees and they lay eggs and the larva will consume the honeycomb. Here is a good link for more info. 😉 articles.extension.org

@CtheG4208 жыл бұрын
Quick question, When do you get honey?
@bloodandwinearered8 жыл бұрын
Why don't the bees attack and sting the beetles to death?
@bloodandwinearered8 жыл бұрын
If I had a stinger,I wouldn't be afraid of no beetle.
@ollie42628 жыл бұрын
Guys if you didn't know if a bee stings anything it dies because when it sting it rips a bit of its body off so they can only sting once unlike wasps.
@bloodandwinearered8 жыл бұрын
Ollie williams holloway We know that. They give up their life to sting. So why sting a human trying to help them, but not the nasty beetle infesting their harvest?
@andrewmckeel59808 жыл бұрын
The beetles give off a scent similar to other bees so they think they are one of them and sometimes the bees even feed them because they confuse them with larvae
