I like Charlie’s idea of Origin being played in 3 weeks #OriJune! It’ll be easier once the 18 team comes in then you could have 6 teams each weekend have a bye. Have the men’s origin Wednesday, women’s Origin Thursday or Friday then the Men’s NrL games played on the weekend.

It used to be 1 game per week for 3 weeks, that is when the Qld sooks started winning more was when they made it a 2 week break between games

Back to back to back SOO would be too taxing on the players to back up.. the intensity of origin is to the extreme… plus the extra wait for next game built up more anticipation and excitement… dont understand the nauseating yearly discussion on changing the SOO format.. its not broken.. no need to fix it Also.. the origin period also gives lesser players on the fringe an opportunity to shine!!! Finally.. there needs to be conversations on the fairness on players march payments!! 30grand per player per game when the SOO makes millions does not sound equitable!!

The Broncos were healthy both games against our Roosters and got pumped, they are nothing without Flegler and Farnworth 37:35 we didn't have Leniu either Charlie

Cam Smith said it's super important all players in Origin camp are training from day dot and that he would prefer a healthy player over someone who has to sit out because of injury. Also the fact Hynes is the halfback makes it that much more important. For James to scoff at people suggesting it's an issue that NSW halfback is nursing an injury shows he just doesn't get Origin football.

With State of Origin, I’d have it on Wednesday, the following Sunday (11 days after) and then the following Wednesday (10 days later). Would allow the players to get enough rest and also wouldn’t impact the season so much. I love origin but last year it seemed to take up half the season

I would have thought James would be all for a mid-season break. You could have England play New Zealand in test matches whilst Australia has Origin.

Every year just when the NRL is hotting up it is kicked in the guts by a fabricated state rivalry which is totally meaningless. if you must pretend that someone in Tweed heads is somehow different to someone in Coolangatta put it on at the end of the year so true NRL fans don't have to watch a great competition get butchered for six weeks.

Totally agree. The "hype" over Origin is so repetitive year after year it has become boring. Origin is living off past glory days when "the best 34 players on the planet" actually played it now a side from those ineligible for Origin would beat either Origin side.Hell The Kiwis thrashed Aussie by 30 last match. Jimmy is hyping Origin as he is scared telling the truth about it would hurt his chances of becoming a sports journo on Fox etc.

Lets be real my point is a lot of the best players in the comp can't play Origin which of course means it is not the best 34 players in the "world" or even close.Those claiming it is the pinnacle etc are just believing the hype and living in the past when it once was. Why basterise the NRL comp for an intersate game?

@@SkeletorsSon Your comment is a non sequitur, the weaker teams are not effected by origin. This week we have four under strength games played in front of poor crowds with mediocre ratings. The NRL suffers for six weeks for three games that are a marketing con. When it should be building momentum into the finals. Play origin at the end of the year.
