I named my cat Saba because of how awesome he was. He died in 2021, and then JDF last year. I met JDF right after Saba's death, and it felt as if it came full circle. I miss both of them so much, just like everyone else.

The Green Ranger's sword (The Sword of Darkness) was my favorite Power Ranger weapon, followed by his flute danger and Green Ranger Megazord (Dragonzord). I don't know whether there is much backstory to his sword.

I have always wondered what Saba meant and I think I might know: In Saban's nationality's language, Hebrew, "Saba" means "Grandfather", so the production might've aimed for an experience releated name.

depending on whether lord drakkon is canon or not, saba was beheaded by him. not sure if he could be put together after that. it also kinda sucks if saba was in imprisoned in a display case only until when tommy needed him since it was a sentient being.

Fun Fact: Tommy wasn't originally meant to be revealed as the White Ranger. basically Jason David Frank was set to headline his own Power Rangers-esque show called Cybertron, with a brand new character to be revealed as the White Ranger. But Saban changed their minds, feeling that fans had a much stronger connection to JDF as Tommy, so they swapped the actors around, JDF returned to Power Rangers, while the actor who was meant to play the new White Ranger instead became the star of Cybertron, which later became VR Troopers

I always felt that Saba was criminally underutilised in the series. That's obviously down to the sentai footage where his equivalent Kibaranger was a child and spoke through the sword to mask his own voice. But Saba being made a character in his own right was given little if nothing to do in most episodes... I always felt that Saba should have graduated to team mentor, when Zordon left. transforming from a sword into a giant Tiger head in the command centre... rather like Gosei in megaforce. Deka the Astromegaship's AI was also given very little to do in the series.

Narratively I still, all these years later, cant understand why Zordon too the leadership away from Jason, I get that Tommy was the more powerful ranger but at that point even as the green ranger he hadn't done anything to earn that spot. Especially when taking it meant to Jason got demoted after leading the team from day one

For anyone who's wondering why Tommy acted so energized and why the White Tiger Zord lost control quickly, it's because the White Ranger Sentai Counterpart was Kou, The KibaRanger; a kid who had a lot of potential, but was also a hassle to say the least.

for those curious in the sentai counterpart: Gosei Sentai Dairanger, Saba or known as his name Byakkoshinken (Byakko for short) served as the alt-voice for Kou (a kid and the Kiba Ranger) as well as a mentor (due to the white ranger in Dairanger being a child) Sadly he dies in Gokaiger as he sacrifices his energy to defeat the Space Empire Zangyack (but returned as a Ranger Key tied to the White Ranger)

Personally, once they promoted Tommy to the white ranger I think they should’ve had all of the Power Rangers looking like the senti series Of Japan, the one from which the thunder zords originated. At least then you would’ve had everybody appearing all at once in the Japanese footage as a team.

Fun Fact: the goofy moments from the White Ranger comes from the fact that in the original sentai, Dairanger, the Kibaranger (their version of the White Ranger) was a little kid that would grow in size as he would transform. Sound familiar?
