With the debris in the carb I would check the tank, make sure it clean. The low (idle) srew seams to tight, I thought it should be 1 1/2 to 1 3/4.

There is a switch underneath the seat you need to put your rear end on the seat for it to engage it’s a safety mechanism

Try around 1/2 throttle on warm starts if it keeps backfiring like that.

To start with that's bad for it don't ever do that. To finish with it backfired cuz I had just shut it off it still had fuel in the cylinders

Hey Mike, what is the gap for the points? What is the spark plug gap? I got the other rear end installed but now it won’t start to test. It has recently throwing a fit and won’t start. I’m still on the road but I have new plugs, wires, coil, points, and condenser waiting at home. I was wondering where you recommend the gaps. Thanks

.020 for points, spark plug I just leave how it comes

@@mikestarcher thanks. Well with the replaced transmission back in and the replaced electrical parts my machine lives again. Well at least back and forth across my my shop floor. Now to put it all back together. If that’s works then it’ll be time to source a blade for the front. Thanks for all your help.

@@mikestarcher I appreciate that. I heard you mention your area before and to let you know my wife is from Wooster and I have a bunch of “ in-law” side of the family just to the West of Wooster.

@@mikestarcher hey Mike is there anyway I can look to find the original dealer of my 317? If I go to a Dealer can they look it up? I’m just curious if my tractor was originally sold locally. My Uncle-in-law used to have a dealership in my area years ago. It would be cool if he originally sold this tractor. Thanks

Do the 317’s have a float function on the hydraulics?
