I've talked a lot of shit about cops and I've had my fair share of bad experiences, but seeing what you post and getting a clear perspective from the other side really really helps a lot. Honestly man, what you're doing here has changed my opinion on the police faster in an hour than 4 years of driving and seeing police in media, ect. Keep doing what you're doing because if anyone will help turn the tide of public opinion it's guys like you.

Officer Rob this is one of the best bike vlogs, period. To answer your question about if your loved one was laying hurt on the freeway...sadly I think many still wouldn't care if it means they are going to be 30mins late picking up their Starbucks...and that is part of the world we live in. Thank you for doing what you do Officer Rob!
@thetimekeeper9558 жыл бұрын
Oh, I think they'd care, but only when it gets that personal-then they'd be cursing and screaming at the backlog of impatient traffic that was fighting for position, pulling up too closely to the vehicle ahead to maneuver anywhere later, and thus holding up the ambulance that was so desperately needed. People are so self-centered that it requires a tragedy in their immediate family to knock them off kilter before they stop and realize what their behavior causes.

I know this is a pretty old video, by KZbin standards, and there is no guarantee that you'll see this, HOWEVER. You're an inspiration. I worked volunteering at a fire station my Senior year of homeschool, until the point I joined the military. Now, I'm happy to say I've got a full career ahead of me. back when I was working calls out in my little town in Texas, it was the guys like you that always made my day, coming in to rescue the rescuers like that. I've gotten my own bike since then, a nice little Shadow Phantom, and I'm always sure to pay a little respect to every cop I see, especially those on two wheels. I get this at least once a week, but for once, I want to stop and thank YOU for your service, sir. Thank you for everything you do.

Even in the worst of European countries as far as traffic participants go, i've never seen this level of idiocy. And sometimes, we're not even talking about bad drivers, but simply narrow, European roads, there's just no place to make space, and yet, they do. Officer Rob, you are what the public loves about Police Officers. Great example and attitude. Its so easy to criticise police or get upset because of something we feel did not do wrong. This video shows why you were trying to get to the victim and people can't think out of their little tiny box but are quick to get mad because you were letting some lanes get through so the ambulance could reach the motorcyclist. Wish you the best and always safe! Thank you and all police so much for your service.

Great job, Sir! An ex-girlfriend of mine was an Army MP. She was in the Guard and I was bringing her home from a weekend drill. We came up on a wreck just moments after it happened. She was still in uniform so she got out and took charge, directing traffic and when she saw the Sheriff's car in the distance she did what you did, shut down two lanes so the cops could get there quickly and take over. I was so amazed by her just as I find your selflessness and skills so amazing. Thank you guys so much for what you do and the risks you take.

awesome work officer! I'm a truck driver, and yeah, everybody only thinks of themselves. but also, they didn't know you were trying to get an ambulance up there they think you just want to let the fast lane go for a bit. Too bad there isn't a way to tell them what you are doing more then the front couple of cars that you talked to...and thank you for doing that. I think most people are much more forgiving and understanding if they know what is happening, even though that not always possible. Thank you for your service and keep up the good work, officer.
@hibweak8 жыл бұрын
Why isn't the ambulance using sirens? There should be ample space if everyone moves to the furthest side in their lane to let the ambulance through.
@The9004288 жыл бұрын
ikr? wtf is this lol
@RoloPoops8 жыл бұрын
hibweak this highway is one of the absolute worst roads in the area. there are no shoulders and when traffic builds into a complete stop like this, there is absolutely nowhere for vehicles to go. In this situation, a siren will only serve to either make drivers panic and freeze up, or attempt to move over where there's no room, further worsening the congestion.
@hibweak8 жыл бұрын
Right so if everyone on the left lane moves to the extreme left, everyone on the right lane (of the cop) moves to the extreme right, maybe even halfway to the next lane over, can an ambulance pass? In EU it can, so this whole video looked absurd to me. I don't see what you mean with 'the situation as a whole' though. Why would the siren make it worse? In EU if the siren isn't on,just lights you don't have to move its not a priority vehicle. Putting the siren on helps other motorists realise there is an issue.
@RoloPoops8 жыл бұрын
@hibweak You are right in theory. The problem is, I feel you are underestimating how stupid people can be, particularly in situations where they are startled or panic. To clarify a bit with "the situation as a whole," there's multiple things I'm referring to in this video. First, as I mentioned, this highway is a complete clusterfuck on an uneventful day. To the left, there is less than 1ft(30.Xcm) of space between the leftmost lane and the barrier. You can see what I mean at roughly 3:20 into the video. The right side of the highway as well has a barrier immediately next to the rightmost lane. Now, assuming the officer is trying to get the ambulance through the left lane, you'd need the cars in the left lane to move as far left as possible, and to the right, you have 3-4 lanes worth of traffic that needs to shift over. Problem is: 1, most of them don't pay attention to what's going on around them. You can be sure Mr Driver in the second to right lane isnt paying attention to an ambulance trying to get through when it's two lanes over and several car lengths behind him 2, a lot of people tail gate the car in front of them which means they have no room to move forward which they need in order to shift over to open up passage, and 3...the best one. even if they were paying attention, a lot of these drivers freeze up causing more of an obstruction because they lack the situational awareness or common sense to figure out what they need to do...which is to simply move over as much as possible (exactly like you said). An example of what I mean can be seen towards the end of the video, the officer is even off his bike directing traffic and people still freeze up, not knowing what to do. Also, more of a side note than anything, here in the States, if an emergency vehicle's lights are on, you are expected to move over. In fact, most of the time when you are getting pulled over, the police will only turn on their lights. Sirens later if they see you aren't making an attempt to move over
@G_Gued8 жыл бұрын
hibweak as a Paramedic, I can tell you right now that that is a pipe dream. I'm a perfect world people move to the right when they hear sirens. This is almost NEVER the case. People freeze or freak out when they hear sirens, or they just don't car and will stay put. Obviously the ambo crew knows what they were doing, (even though it is AMR), and traffic was still keeping them bogged down. Sirens are ATROCIOUSLY loud and annoying when using them for 30 mins of close corner traffic. Your air horn serves a much better use in these situations .
@Aceslong8 жыл бұрын
total respect for you officer rob, this video shows how dedicated you are and i totally agree with the question towards the end, it would be a different story if it was their loved ones down injured and in need of urgent medical help, some people i saw when u was splitting down the freeway to reach the victim was more interested in seeing if they could catch a glimpse of what happened up ahead instead of doing what they should be doing and thats paying attention to everything around them, keep it up officer

Thankyou Officer Rob for doing a outstanding job and getting help to downed motorcyclists and motorists.That brought tears to my eyes.I'm very very tough and never tear up.Though I have been a downed motorcyclist hit by a motor vehicle that was not paying attention.I was saved by God number one and a Nurse who put a tourniquet on my leg.And the Los Angeles Paramedics who visited me in the hospital.Thankyou Thankyou Officer Rob.I know you will always do your best to help save lives!!!God bless you Officer Rob.Also all the Doctors,Nurses,Medical Staff.I should have died on that road but it wasn't my time.I hope to meet you one day Officer Rob.Your a good Man.The Best.Salt of the earth.

Anytime bud, I have a good friend here in Houston that was a motorcycle cop for years. He went to work for our last mayor as security, not sure what he's up to now. I like the fact that you are just down to earth and put it like it is. Not many people do these days
