you should keep most of the broken tiles that are almost complete because you know than in laying tiles, you will always need partial tiles for filling up partial holes

Billy: If the charcoal was used to ward off evil spirits in the basement, it would seem the nuns were dealing with the same unfriendly ghosts that you've encountered. That could mean that the malevolent forces in the convent pre-date the building. It might be worthwhile to try to figure out what occupied your site before the convent was built.

It's not European, but as an American from the Southwest - Sage smudge the whole place. Leave openings for egress. Oddly, it helps.

@marshawargo7238 salt is good for keeping outside energy out. The charcoal at the edge where the floor met the basement vent was doing the same thing. But my understanding is it'll trap that energy inside. The idea is to encourage it to leave. Sage is good for that. Of course, I recognize that a European solution, like the tradition of taking burning charcoal into each room, might work better in the convent. But I admit, I would've brought a box of smudge sticks from the States and saged the hell out of the place with windows open for spirit egress. 🤣

Great camera work today Alex. Lately I’ve been telling my 14 year old son that we need to Crack On. He loves to hear me say it to him and always has a smile on his face when I do. He has autism and is nonverbal. He is considered severely handicap because he doesn’t read or write. He is able to sit and watch the show at times when he’s focused. He loves seeing the baby bird and when Michael takes shots of all of the dogs and other animals at the chateau. Again thank you so much for putting out such great content and bring a smile to our faces but most of all to our son face. So keeping CRACKING ON with the smiles!!!! Jasmin and Garth, and or son Havok. God Bless. 😊

I would love a helmet. I enjoy your videos immensely and look forward to each one. Between watching the changes in the corner apt and the rest of the convent I have been able to think about my own past. While in high school my dad, my sister and myself took down a 4 story ( if you counted the basement as one story) mansion. The woodwork inside was beautiful and dad would loose it all and bring it home and then my sister and I would remove all the nails without leaving any marks. There was a beautiful staircase that had pieces of different colored wood all mingled together. Dad took it down keeping track of what went where and put it into another mansion. It was hard work but watching dad reuse all the lumber to enlarge our home was fascinating. He had no formal training but he did it all. And because he only had daughters we helped. I love watching and my dream would be to come and help. And the helmet would be a joyful reminder for me.

Billy, I worked in a turn of the century (early 1900s) building that was once used as a mental health institution turned into office space for several hundred employees. That building that I worked in, was like most of the other historic campus buildings' floors had large squares of terrazzo tiles adhered with mortar and bordered with brass or silver metal.

There are some nice ones from the late 1800s that look more like Roman mosaics than newer terrazzo floors but that's about it. The house I grew up in (built in 1914) had some particularly ugly terrazzo floors in the kitchens and bathrooms, slate grey cement with almost white aggregate, quite dull and depressing, especially combined with white wall tiles. Most of them are still there but have been covered with tile, lino or engineered hardwood.

Awesome Billy your passion for this project is palpable and wonderful to see. However I do wish with all my heart that you and your team would wear masks most of the time during renovation work, you all have families to care for and if you look at the shot of you with the torch above the ceiling you will see the dust you are inhaling. Take care dear vlogger - you Pethericks are very special - Love and god bless

Don't throw any of the broken tiles. You could use them to do a mosaic with complete tiles surrounding 😊 Crack on! From Cyprus

04th July 2023. Dear Pethericks. Whilst watching your video today, I was very impressed with Rick's rose boerders. I hope Rick you don't mind me making a suggestion in covering the soil around the rose plants with small plain or colored gravel. This will keep the soil from drying out hence keeping the soil moist. I did this around my rose plants and it kept the roses from getting dehydrated especially when the sun gets too hot and drying the soil too hard. '

The space above that ceiling is fascinating. What a great find! I don’t know how you fight the urge to rip things down, when you discover something exciting. Good thing that you have a ton of patience. 👍🏻
