First of all - huge thank you to Matt F. on Patreon for asking me to use his bi-monthly request to produce an original instead!!
My dream is still to be able to produce more originals than covers, but we're not quite there yet. Nothing compares to putting your whole self into something and still being able to find people to connect with.
Things have been pretty bumpy for me health wise, mental and physical. I talked about that in the description for 'Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall'. I was getting better for a bit but I've been back in this dark place, sort of wondering what the point is.
I've been depressed. I've been anxious. I've been sick. I wake up every morning in panic, and my days are filled with existential dread and wondering whether or not I'm ready to 'give up' and call it quits. I keep wondering if the struggle is worth it and asking myself what makes it feel worth it? What do I live for?
I always come back around to music. Creating and connecting with others gives my life meaning where I feel there is none. It makes me want to be better, not give up, find the way out of this.
I want to find hope so I can offer to those who know what it feels like to fight like hell and not know if it'll be worth it. I feel like I've been given an opportunity not everyone is given, and I have a responsibility and desire to help as many people along the way as possible.
So while on the one hand I'm a mess, falling apart and holding off the impulse to end it all - there's another side that's fighting like hell.
This song is about that back and forth.
For now, I'll keep making music and moving forward - regardless of how exhausting life can be or 'how far I wanna go'.
But you'll find there's no real resolution. It's all just distorting the frame.

On another note, I produced the track to sound 'fun' despite some of the lyrics to represent the kind of 'upbeat' go-go-go energy it requires to keep up with everything.
In the video, people and comments spring up to represent the support I've gotten along the way and the people cheering me on - as well as the occasional passing through of the more 'critical' user. They represent things that keep me going and things that make it difficult sometimes.
SynK and I went through to hand pick frequent random comments I get. I wanted to pick from some of the more ~ random ~ impersonal ones I get, as they come up more often - even if I pour my heart out. The core of what I'm trying to convey seems lost on or irrelevant to commentators more often than not, so that's portrayed here.
Another original song I have in production will feature specific comments left by you guys (with your consent), but I'll post about that later in the community tab.

I cannot describe how much I relate to that struggle, wanting to end it all but wanting to help and heal everyone around me. Some days I can't bare all the pain and wish no one loved me so I could just end the pain without hurting anyone. For now, they will be my reason for living and things like this song are helping me keep going. Stay strong, Jayn. You're doing so well and are creating gorgeous, inspirational songs that are undoubtedly helping people. I know your music helps me. Another beautifully dark original! I love these songs you create, they're so real and personal and I can connect them to moments in my own life. Your song Poison actually describes how I feel about a certain person I'm close to after I tried to come out to them and then felt like I wasn't safe in doing so and just told them I'd changed my mind. But I've been miserable and angry ever since it seems, my mild feelings of depression and the urge to do destructive things to myself grew a lot in a short amount of time, I just wanted it all to end, but Poison lets me feel, lets me understand that they are the ones in the wrong, not me. I can't help how I feel and who I feel for, and if I could I wouldn't want to. I like the way I am and I love my community. I'm thinking of just saying "fuck it, it's pride month" and telling them how I really feel, because I'll be out away from them in about a year but Idk. Just wanted to share that and let you know that I adore your music. Keep it real, I hope you continue to stay motivated because you really are incredible. First i gotta say KZbin sucks cuz I am subbed I have the bell clicked and everything and it still didn't show this to me until i wanted to listen to one of your covers. I have been a fan a while after stumbling upon you and i gotta say I love your voice and the songs you choose to sing. A lot of your original works really resonate with me...I say a lot but after looking them up it is nearly all of them. The message of this song though made me want to reach out and tell you and anyone else reading this...I understand and I feel the same. I am someone who never comments because half the time some else said it first or better then i could. And in general I don't think most people wanna hear from me. I don't know how much of this reply will still apply to your personal notes but I'll send this anyway: Hey Jayn. I'm sure you'll be able to produce more produce more originals eventually! Being able to find people to connect with is great! I'm sorry things have been pretty bumpy for you health wise. :/ I'm sad to know you've been depressed, anxious, sick, waking up in panic, etc. I've been dealing with those things, too, lately. Don't give up! Please don't. There's so much to live for but it can be so hard to see those things at times. It's possible us living beings may not have a purpose here or for being alive, but in case we do, we shouldn't just throw our lives away. You have those who care about you and would be so sad if they lost you. If you won't keep pushing on for anything else, then do it for those who care about you. The ones who care about you (and you care about) are who you share a special connection with. Please don't give up on those connections. Music is wonderful! This song is awesome! I've listened to it like 20 times already. And now i have read description. Jayn, if you have panic attacks then you should go to a doctor. Really, im serious. Some of my friends had problems with depression. Even I had some episodes with it so I have a lot experience with this illness and I understand how it feels and how it looks like. You have to do something with it or it will be getting worse and worse. Sometimes depression will let you rest even for few months, but then it will strike back. Maybe you will only need therapy but I think you should get medicines to help you with panic attacks. Please do not hesitate and go see a doctor. If it will make you feel better - I don't care much for covers, I have subscribed to listen to your originals :)

A big part of why I love your originals (although I love all your work) is how personal, and inspiring they are, even the parts that are hard, but now I'm wondering what I missed. Whenever I hear about depression, and all that other stuff, I just wonder why life, and the world can't be better, you, and those like you and the wonderful things you all create, say, and do give me hope we can make them better, and that I can be better.

I've listened to this song and it comes to mind that it's something I'd hear on a chart from the radio, in the good sense and not the 'mass produced beat' manner. I wish we had more folks like you making songs like this to put into the mainstream and shake up the 'cool new beats'.
