A great video, Barry! I have to say these must be about the most accurate reproductions--both the cartridges and boxes--being made today, much better than mine (but just you wait!). I am really looking forward to seeing what the external ballistics of these cartridges are like. (This is Hugh, by the way.)

Greetings! Would it be possible for me to use a small fragment of your video for my short documentary? I will provide video source in the description. Thank you for consideration!

I want to get a Smith. Which would be better for shooting......repro (Hard to find) or original? (Mostly more expensive)
@bgeipel Жыл бұрын
Personally I always prefer an original over a repro.

WHat are the dimensions of the box? How did you make it/them?

Are you using the CCI musket caps for reenacting. I have some of those caps I was wondering how they work. You have a nice carbine. I own one also but I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet.

I am using RWS musket caps.

For how long, after the war, were cartridges, of any type, produced and made available for the Smith?
@bgeipel3 ай бұрын
It is my understanding that there were no cartridges made after the war for the military models. The smith became obsolete very quickly with the adoption of fully contained metallic cartridges.
@jason60chev3 ай бұрын
@@bgeipel Hmmmmm. Yeah, I guess so. But paper Ctgs were made for percussion revolvers, for along time, I think...into the 1890s. Too bad there wasno viable way to convert the Smith to fire self contained metallic ctgs.

Are you from the UK? I figured you must be, the way you pronounce carbine.
@bgeipel Жыл бұрын
Nope. I live in Indiana in the United States. Lived in the UK for a bit when I was a child. That is the way I always pronounced carbine 😀
