Suit up for classic comedy! I'm old enough to have seen this in a theater when it first came out. Nobody knew anything about the movie. The way it started out, everyone assumed it was a horror movie trailer. But when Bill Murray appeared and said, "Anybody seen a ghost?" the theater erupted in cheers. That's how popular he was then. Everyone in that crowd would have been happy to skip the movie we'd paid to see if we just could have watched this one instead.

Watched this a lot growing up. Never gets dull, Ghostbusters is a film that seems to be timeless even if it looks a bit dated. True masterpiece of film making and a great film and as far as fantasy and comedy goes probably one of the best films in it's genre.

Xtra Special Mango and P Ferreira I agree with you both. Ernie Hudson is just as important as Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Rick Morains but his name wasn't mentioned in the trailer for the original movie. I'm pretty much sure it's because Ernie himself didn't have a big enough role to be considered a main star as his role in the original script was significantly cut down and that it isn't anything to do with racism because in fact they don't mention either William Atherton or Annie Potts in the trailer either.

And to think, Richard Pryor was the original choice for Winston! After his infamous freebase incident, those plans went out the window. Prior to this, Hudson's only other credit was the jail drama PENITENTIARY. It's too easy to chalk this one up to racism, despite Hollywood's track record of relegating Black characters to secondary, subservient roles. I've always appreciated Mr. Hudson's take on Winston. He was the everyman, the average Joe looking for work and not getting bogged down by the stress. He didn't even believe in ghosts, just the paychecks. Once Winston saw how real ghosts were, any skepticism fell by the wayside. He was the connection between the scientists and the clients.

Notice the way they don't spoil the big surprise of the movie by showing Stay Puft? Trailers these days are like an a-z of the movie you can basically piece together what happens whilst watching them and anything that could be a surprise is ruined. Even more so in the last 10 years where every movie has about 35 trailers and 20 international versions showing more and more every time.

I always counted it first and foremost as a horror anyway tbh buddy. Its just really funny from the situation, then you add in action, special effects, romance, science fiction and even drama, and you have possibly the only movie ever, to mix about 6 genres perfectly.

Not sure if I'm going crazy but I assume the part in this trailer where Venkman says that he's the chairman of the largest paranormal removal company in America was either an outtake or an unused line in the movie. I assume its supposed to be where he's talking to Dana in her appartment, after they check the fridge. Just weird seeing a different part of that scene, especially when we've all seen the movie a hundred times and memorized all the lines.

I've seen Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and I've quite enjoyed watching them myself minus Ghostbusters: Answer the Call which I've avoided. I even played Ghostbusters: The Video Game (the realistic version that was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) which I've enjoyed playing myself and it's like watching a third sequel as I played it. I would've liked to see an animated remake of the 1984 and 1989 films done in the style of The Real Ghosbusters as well.
