Awesome Tutorial, I have the same rework station that you do and have a v1.0 giving me Red/Orange ROL when attempting to boot. I was told it could be a ram issue so I've ordered replacement chips that will hopefully be here soon. What setting did you turn your hot air wand to just out of curiosity?

Look up FRAG error. Very common in the v1.0 revisions. It's hard to pin point where the error is occurring also.

Did you ever fix your Xbox?

Any use other than replacing diagnosed bad RAM chips elsewhere? Wouldn't it make sense to get them from old PC modules instead or to order NOS? I'm going to be moving the EEPROM from one XBOX to another soon so this is somewhat relevant to me regardless. ;) I'll be using ChipQuick.

I just had this dead board lying around so I figured I would make a video showing how to remove them without a whole lot of work in case someone else had a spare board they wanted to get the most out of. Lol. The RAM chips themselves are good and will be going into another system to add an extra 64mb of RAM. You can order the exact RAM chips off the internet for a few bucks each rather than pulling them. What's the reason for wanting to try and move the eeprom from one Xbox to another? Bad eeprom? Lost eeprom? If it's lost you can easily recover it by buying or building a reader. Building is easy and can be done for under 10 bucks.

H4Ck GAMiNG Dead XBOX from a client who never had a backup who, for whatever reason, has to have this unknown dashboard/software/softmod config without even knowing what it's called. I can't even attempt to duplicate it on another XBOX when she can't even describe it to me. Yeah, now I recall when certain emulators said said they required a RAM upgrade or a developer box to run certain ROMs on an XBOX since it couldn't all fit in memory. Guess it doesn't just page to the HDD with dog-slow virtual memory like a desktop OS. :D

Yeah I would say rather than swapping eeproms just build a quick eeprom reader. Parts can be had from Radioshack (except the LPT cable) but that should allow you to rebuild a stock dashboard and completely erase any old dashboard files they had on there. XboxHDM does wonders with these problems. Literally just did one a week or so ago. Might look into joining Xbox (Original) Modding, Trading, Collecting, Discussion on Facebook. Lot's of people (including myself) who can help walk ya through anything.

Thanks. I have one of the readers but the board is dead (no power). I expect that the swap may actually be easier than trying to power it in-circuit but if that proves not to be true I will figure something else out. :)

Great video, now i hope to see the instal tuto...hehehe. I need ask you, what kind of heat gun did u have used to remove these memory so easy? Can send me a ebay link? Thanks in advance!
@H4CkGAMiNG7127 жыл бұрын
Not sure on an eBay link, but the machine I use is an Aoyue Int968A+ Repair System. I actually can't do any videos until we get new Internet (Looking like June 1st). We kept the same company when we moved across town and apparently the best they can offer for my location on DSL is 1.5mbps download and 0.3mbps upload. :(

okay so first off, you didnt use enough flux for the module , you also could make your life so much easier by removing the larger cap beside the ram and thuse allowing you to simply push the ram away from the area one one fast motion , , as you see you dont heat everything up in one go and risk bending pins or ripping pads off with the legs and such, not ideal but you got the job done so yeah thats all that matters in the end
@H4CkGAMiNG7124 жыл бұрын
I used plenty of flux. Pushing chips is NEVER a good idea as you're heating it to the point where you could easily bend something internally rendering the chip completely useless. I didn't remove the cap as it's pointless when doing this way works perfectly fine and the board is garbage anyway. I've done more of these than I can count and have never run into an issue doing it the way I do it. Thanks though.

@@H4CkGAMiNG712 bend something internally ? what... do elaborate
@H4CkGAMiNG7124 жыл бұрын
@@Millzieeeee You could easily rip a leg off and damage the chip beyond repair by trying to slide it off. Would you also recommend sliding a BGA chip off the board? That doesn't make any sense dude. You stick to doing it your way (which seems sketchy at best) and I'll continue doing it my way which is how I've been doing it for close to 10 years now with absolutely zero issues. Lol.

@@H4CkGAMiNG712 hahaha don't know what kinda dodgy critters you've seen removing chips off boards but even watch Luis rossman he works on macbooks and is massively reknown , he does exactly the same haha 🤷♂️😅
@H4CkGAMiNG7124 жыл бұрын
@@MillzieeeeeShould we mail him a cookie? I've removed hundreds upon hundreds of NANDs and even NORs by heating and lifting (as have millions of others) and haven't ever had an issue with any bent or broken legs so I'll continue doing so in that exact manner. Funny, you come on here to criticize my work, but your channel has nothing but gameplay videos. Lolol. Maybe you should stick to doing that rather than jumping on random videos trying to tell people how things should be done. 🤷♂️🤷♂️😆
