Scott was a Kentucky State Trooper. He's very safe in his videos. This is a real old one. He's super funny also 😆
@billlovell51855 сағат бұрын
As far as the accident goes - Scott has said that he is fine with people reacting to it for the same reason that he decided to post the video. It highlights that accidents do happen as well as giving recognition to those that helped save his life. it also shows how important quick thinking and action is in an emergency. Even if you don't react online, the video is worth watching. Also his friends all made videos to post on his channel and sold merch to help pay his medical expenses.

Scared the crap out of me, as I hate the thought we could have lost him. I do wonder, as hot as that round was, if the weight was noticeably suspect. The gun maker did make improvements as a result (cap threading, etc.), but still....

@@busterdee8228 Scott did a followup video using a Barret 50. The round wasn't a factory round, and was improperly reloaded. He blew up the Barret too. Scott makes fun of the incident in the short film Tiny Guns 3 (World War 2 inches)

Related to your ship story and tracers, in the US military, the fiscal year ends on 31 September each year. If you have ammunition left in inventory when the fiscal year ends, you may not get as much in allocation for the next year. So we would go out to the range and burn it all. At night we would load up 30 rounds of tracer in our rifles, just for fun. When the range control officer commanded fire, it was 30 round of tracer fired in automatic across 40 lanes flying downrange. It was so cool to see that and even on dirt, the tracers would bounce up into the air. We'd also have to do that with artillery rounds. So there was a lot of battery fire for effect/repeat so 18 artillery rounds impacting over and over plus illumination rounds floating down all night long. They would have us call for fire so the fire direction center would get practice also. The military was not always fun, but when it was, it was great.

the bmg .50's ability to deliver this amount of raw kinetic (and thermal) energy onto such a small point and at a comfortable range is legitimately a thing of beauty... like, horrific nightmare-inducing beauty but thats half the allure i think. the amount of creative energy we funnel towards killing eachother over imaginary lines in the dirt is just... just aw-inspiring lol

5.56 was meant to kill. That's a myth from vietnam. Where it comes from is that wounding a soldier takes a medic, 2 litter bearers, a doctor, nurses and others to look over them. The more casualties the more combat ineffective the enemy is. The reality is it was designed to do massive damage internally through tumbling and yawing. The bullet was 55 grains fired out of a 1-12 twist barrel and was inherently unstable. When it would hit it wouldn't go straight and that caused massive damage. Tumbling yawing etc actually increases lethality by increasing the amount of tissue destruction. It's the same with hollow points - the goal is to dump as much of the energy into the body as possible.

556x45 was designed to be a varmint cartridge. Racoons armadillos opossum coyote etc. they're just moving so fast. Obviously AP has the steel/tungsten core. It's only a 22cal though. My bud had a 6mm rem mag. Its basically a magnum cartridge similar to 7mm rem mag, or 300win mag but smaller. They're 22 cal, i shot it outside a tree house window at some targets no ear pro. The barrel wasn't completely past the window frame. No bueno.

It has more to do with what the anvil is made of, rather than when it was made. There's a HUGE difference between forged, and, cast metals. I'm not sure about military, but, I know he has a law enforcement background.

In the middle east you had to be careful about shooting around straight walls. The rounds would skip just like the water. If you shoot a frozen lake the round stops, but continues to spin. Sounds like a little turbo ,or jet turbine.

That's the same rifle that detonated on him. Serbu makes it. Good rifle but when the wrong powder is loaded into a round there ain't nothing saving you except some divine intervention. Sabot rounds can go through around 3-4 inches of hardened steel. There is a reason it was developed as an anti tank machine gun in WW1 and post war.

RE: comment around 12:30 Cheap anvil metal isn't much of a challenge. All armoured vehicles have more armour than this because this is not even remotely close to what hardened steel, much less actual armour is capable of. 12.7x108mm AP get around 20mm of pen Vs RHA.
