One explanation I've read was the author(s) in Genesis are saying all the legendary pre-flood heroes/gods were these people. Every story you heard (speaking to the audience contemporary with Genesis) were based on these individuals and this is their origin. Same goes for after the Flood as many of the giants were WELL KNOWN (Og, Anak, etc). Also, in Job - the sons of God are clearly angels.

Saul was a completely faithless individual at this point in his life. And because he was faithless, the army was just as faithless. It becomes even more apparent when David calls the entire army out for allowing someone like Goliath to continually blaspheme God day after day. It never occurred to David to dwell on Goliath's size and his height. The Israelite army was indeed petrified because their focus was on the wrong thing.

Pastor Joel: my theory is that the Nephalim built the pyramids and other ancient structures which we cannot explain today, how they were built using such limited technology. Interesting verse that supports fallen angel view, in my opinion, that seems to be forgotten, is the teaching on head coverings. It teaches men should not cover and women should, and when talking about women covering, it says because of the angels. Now that on itself isn’t a super strong argument, but if consider the idea that angels, multiple, came to earth and mated or somehow created offspring with human women, on multiple occasions, there’s nothing to indicate that the nature of angels and potential temptations they may deal with has changed, so a covering is an important symbol of authority for angels who interact with women or on behalf of women.

We do know that we’re all descendants of Noah and my understanding is that when the Bible calls Noah a just man and perfect in his generation it partially means his line from Adam was not corrupted by the fallen angels. One idea I had on this is that the way in which the Angels did this was by demonically possessing human men, such as when Satan entered Judas after Jesus gave him the morsel of bread. Perhaps they entered the men that were the largest and even gave them some sort of extra strength like Samson or the guy whom Jesus casts out Legion (who could break chains). My thoughts are that human beings were sort of "hosts" for the angels (sort of a way for them to "tap" into the physical realm), possessing humans to relay messages and stuff. And these Angels perverted it and used it for sexual sins instead of God's work.

You are right, the Bible does not teach fallen angels producing giants. But if they could, they didn't have to get married at all. Angels are not human beings and cannot become one at will. They must remain as God created them. Humans were created to procreate, not Angels. We are terrestrial beings, angels are celestial beings. There are no baby angels or mom and dad angels in heaven. How I know that? Jesus said angels do not marry neither are given in marriage.

35:22... that's right.. Lucifer was the most beautiful of all the angels, and was the morning star. Then God made man in his image and placed him above the angels. Lucifer did not like that at all. Not a single one of the Job passages he mentions uses the term "sons of God" to refer to any angels -- much less, to _fallen_ ones. Also, Paul, in Hebrews 1:5, wrote: _"For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?"_ How anyone, claiming to believe that verse, can nevertheless sit there claiming _"God sometimes calls fallen angels 'the sons of God'!"_ is beyond me. Since God has never said to any angel, _"Thou art my Son",_ it is utterly ridiculous to claim that God, in Genesis 6 (or anywhere else), is using the term, "the sons of God", to refer to _fallen angels._

How many times is Angels, Fallen angels, or Demons mentioned? The words you need to concentrate on are SAW, PLEASING OR BEAUTIFUL, AND DESIRE. Same sin as in the Garden of Eden at the fall. Has nothing to do with Angels mating with mankind.

It is like the noun version of this verb. You can verify this on Brown-Driver-Briggs lexicon. Or Strong's. They might be giants, I do not know, but it CAN mean fallen. I don't know why he said that around 09:20, he is either ignorant of Biblical Hebrew, which I doubt, being disingenuous, which I also doubt, or made an honest mistake. 🤷‍♂ Biblical Hebrew is notoriously vague. I don't mean to seem harsh, but the etymology is clear, and the verb mean's to fall or to lie (down).

On the face of it, at least, it sure looks like lust in the hearts of the sons of God was their motive to these marriages. It does not even appear from the text that a prospect of corrupting the line of the woman's promised seed was even a consideration with them.

Please just read what it says in a correct translation: Gen 6:2 That the sons of THE gods [bni ha'elohim: sons of the rulers, men in power] saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. ... 4 There were giants [nephilim: tyrants, bullies, fellers] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of THE gods [rulers] came in unto the daughters of men, and they (the daughters) bare to them (the sons of the rulers) > the same mighty MEN which were of old, MEN of renown. You forgot tradition in those days. Weddings were planned by daddy. The potential groom(in this case a hunking gorgeous Thor type being) offers 100 camels, 100 mules and a side of forbidden knowledge for the hand of that there maiden. Imagine being the dad on the block that got that proposal. Unfortunately that led to those giant offspring. But humans have the birth right to own the world and now those giants are human enough that the fallen angels can now rule the world by proxy through those children the giants. And we are still in that battle today. The bible is a supernatural history and salvation story book. People want to downplay the supernatural part by putting it on the same level as Harry Potter so they can wrap their heads around it better. The supernatural part is just too much for most folks to handle. And those in the shadows seek to minimize the supernatural salvational gift of Jesus Christ by playing word games and rearranging the sentences of the bible for ulturnative meanings and outcomes. If they can confuse people, put others to sleep spiritually or keep us fighting over the meanings of those verses, they have more time to bring more folks down with them.

Tim denies that he's influenced by the book of Enoch to think that the beneha Elohim are angels and the nephilim their descendants, but that's like John MacArthur defending dispensationalism from scripture, and denying that Darby is the ultimate influence. You wouldn't accept that, Joel. My argument is that these are genuinely parallel. Regardless of the arguments being made from Scripture, it's undeniable that the modern belief originates with the popularity of the book of Enoch and not the historically reformed tradition from Augustine through Calvin and on up to spurgeon's time.

That is not the case. Dr. Michael Heiser, who was a Hebrew scholar who specialized in understanding the Bible through the lens of the people who wrote it, has written extensively on this topic. He said that the Sons of God of Genesis 6 were always implicitly understood by the ancient Hebrews to be heavenly beings. It wasn't even a question. It was common knowledge. He wrote an excellent refutation of the Sethite theory in his book, Reversing Hermon.
