What a helpful video. 😊. Very informative and well done. I’ll be in touch. Can’t believe anyone would leave a negative comment about pronunciation. 😂

I used to love living in Orillia. It was a town near the lake were everybody knew each other and helping your neighbor was just what you did. I'm not really liking where things are headed growth wise and the folks from the GTA coming up here inflating the housing market. I bet I won't even recognize this town in another 10 years.

The province and country as a whole is growing exponentially. Unfortunately the development that needs to happen to house all these people is not happening which is subsequently driving up prices and increasing competition. I wouldn't get mad at the GTA folks moving up here, they are just trying to find a better and more affordable life for themselves and their families because its getting out of hand down there, more than here.

They build new housing, but forget to talk about the lack of jobs, the lack of AFFORDABLE housing, the high drug rate, high crime rate , tent cities behind the plazas. Don't be fooled into thinking this is some glamorous waterfront lifestyle. . The best part about the inflated real estate pricing was it enabled me to move away. Too bad really, I enjoyed many years living there before the main street died. Soon it will be condos blocking up the lake access.

Where do you think these people are going to work ? The city planners have done a fabulous job at screwing up roads like Front St. Which currently is solid traffic from light to light plus...when you add all these new people and vehicles to the area what do you think the congestion will be like?

Jobs are coming as well, with the hydro one plant and hospital, will it take time- of course. Also consider millennials who are able to work from home with maybe driving into gta/Toronto once a week or once a month, who are also priced out of that area. How do I know? Because I am one of those millennials. Orillia is an outdoor heaven with a bursting local arts/community that would attract many first time buyers who can work from home.

@@clayolaanemets2652 just like all these opp jobs from Burlington that were suppose to come and live in orillia. The majority do 12 hour shifts and when the jobs first came they did not want to live in orillia. They live in barrie or brechin or rent rooms and go back to Burlington

I assume they’ll be mostly for retirees, since there just isn’t the industry, or jobs to attract working people. Most people now in Orillia wouldn’t be able to afford these units.
@loki76
@loki76 Жыл бұрын
True. But that is likely changing. Orillia is set to explode. Lots of development over the 20 years. It's starting to have a lot of features of a much larger town. The stores , almost 200 restaurants. All these developments and even talk of expanding Orillia into "taking" land from Oro and Severn etc. Mandated by the Provincial government.

any idea when or/if the west mount development will be approved/break ground.
@thekiwirealtor
@thekiwirealtor Жыл бұрын
Hey Brent, That one is still in the development approval stage. There are a lot of significant reports and public meetings which need to happen before construction can be approved and started. The original application was submitted March of last year so my guess is at least another year before breaking ground

Wow they are really turning Orillia into a bunch of tall buildings. This was not a thing a few years ago. The tallest in the city is basically the building by Moose beach. Now they are doing 8 story downtown and 12-14 stories at the end of the city. It's turning into Barrie. Going to lose the small town charm.

I saw 1,000,000$ condos downtown and laughed. Orillia is not worth a 1$M condo. Having grown up there, it is just far enough away from TO to be a lost cause. We need Go Train, but we ripped up the tracks 20yrs ago. I'd never move back to Orillia.

Very informative You do a great job. I’m just curious about WHY developers are building luxury condos. Where are all os us hardworking middle class folks going😢Please stop the over the top luxury ! In Oshawa, they have “80 Bond” but you go outside, it is STILL the shwa😳
@thekiwirealtor
@thekiwirealtor Ай бұрын
@@twylajollymore3665 honestly from what I see, there is no incentive for developers to create “affordable” units. They can’t make money with the cost of building and development fees and the government (both local, provincial and federal) aren’t doing enough. Developers believe it or not are corporations designed to make a profit, and when it’s hard for them to do that the last thing they’re going to do is lose money making average units. Most of these “luxury” developments aren’t even luxury anymore, all of the fancy stuff is an upgraded extra cost for purchasers.

PLEASE stop building on lakefront. It caters only to the rich, and destroys lake views for everyone else! It doesn’t help the lake water quality, and just makes more pressure on our precious lakes. Also, mostly because of the clientele these “condos” attract, our lake accesses and parking for using the lake is becoming more and more diminished, and that is NOT fair since we all pay our share of municipal taxes in the area. Sunshine Harbour should not be allowed. It doesn’t “tie in the downtown to the waterfront” it just blocks the view, and doesn’t allow anywhere for people to park to use the waterfront either, especially those with boats and trailers! Also, another beautiful farm is being destroyed? Beautiful farmland and soil that would be more suited to growing food! Most of these condos and apartments are ugly with inappropriate flat roofs, not suitable for our climate really. How about building more low income housing places? So many people in our town are homeless. There is not enough affordable places for them to live, and that is just not right catering to the rich.

Its always about catering to the rich. It always will be. This world is all about the rich stealing and taking from thw poor. No such thing as fair. Nor will there ever be. We allow this shit to happen so ita our own fault. Why are we the ppl allowing this to all happen ? Its our town. We the tax payers dont have a say ? Wtf.

Even though there has been an increase in crime and homeless and druggies in Orillia. With all this booming development over the years. I feel a Gentrification coming on as well. It's juxtaposition happening.
