Orin's speech with all Dark Urge voices - Baldur's Gate 3

I can't help but imagine all the emotions the Dark Urge must feel in this moment, especially for a redeemed route. We know the Dark Urge has had some goodness deep inside them that was always stamped out by Bhaal: once having a family, resisting their urge enough to be given Sceleratis, even giving a coin to a beggar. Orin kidnapping the Dark Urge and scrambling their brain enough to fight their urges is the best thing to have ever happen to them. And still, Orin reveals the horrific violence and betrayal that happened to them but they can scarcely remember. It gives the whole situation and Orin's character so much complexity.

Yep. Voice 7 was my choice, there is an air of arrogance to it. Which is The Dark Urge's entire thing. The other ones were too mustache twirling bad guy for my taste like the actors were instructed "This is the bad guy voice". 7 seems far more natural and real.

Point being: They're all great in their own respective ways, because each delivery is entirely unique to the interpretation/delivery of the voice actors themselves. At the end of the day it'll just come down to personal preference so I wouldn't say one is worse or better than another.

The original voice of Dark Urge is 5, it is this voice who sounds when you choose a introduction, you can see for yourself, go to the character creation section and you will see that the original voice of Dark Urge 5, In my opinion,the developers made the right choice by having this voice as an introduction, phenomenal voice and acting, the best voice for a male Tav and Dark Urge.

My favorite is the male 3, is a kind of tone an voice that if can make you shiver from a threat, is calm but sadistic, almost seductive, as if the need to impose himself was not necessary, his presence is more than enough, I love it. For the same reasons, my second favorite is the 8 female.

I've listened to all of the male voices multiple times and it's honestly kind of hard to say which one I prefer. They each put a different emphasis and cadence to their speech that significantly changes the tone and message of what Orin is saying. Some come off as mocking, others just taking joy in the action, it can veer form playful to methodical, each threatening in their own way. Then there's the preference between what pitch you prefer your Durge to speak.

I really like how breathy and husky the 8th female voice is! She seems to have everything under control, but there's still a sadistic, bloodthirsty madness in her whispers and breathing. Such a shame it was buggy in my first playthrough and I didn't get Durge's cool lines... Hopefully Larian will fix this if they haven't already.

They all have their own beauty, but ironically, this video is making me want to play with Voice 1 or 7. The way they deliver 'Sticky and Sweet' almost makes me think like they wanted to *DRINK* the brain fluid, which fits well with the Dark Urge themes, and especially well for any Half-Illithids. Voice 7's deeper tone fits with what I like best, but I can't deny that Voice 1 sounds like a certain someone most FFXIV players will recall of they really think about it.

My favorite male voices are 1 and 5, while my favorite female voices are 2 and 8 Editing to give my thoughts on how the various voices sound to me. What they emphasize in their dialogue. 1 - Orin is gleeful as she describes the process. Mocking in her joy, and proud to have come out on top. 2 - Orin is in awe of her job, of the entire process of taking Durge apart, and then, when describing the Durge's condition, she turns playful. 3 - Indulgent, like the cat that caught the canary, smug with satisfaction 4 - The closest to Orin's actual voice and cadance, imo. Like she's not even bothering to mimic you properly, she's just using your form, your voice. 5 - Durge's original voice, and it *shows* in how well she mimics it, how well she knows this voice, the man behind it. She's having fun with this voice. 6 - Sinister, but it also sounds too try-hardy, if that makes sense. It started off great, but then Orin tries too hard to be dark. (I might also be a bit biased in that this is my least favorite) 7 - (This is my least favorite male voice, so again, I might be biased) There's a stern distance mixed with derision and disgust. Like she's mimicking how Durge would speak to her. 8 - Perfect control, like she's not the uncontrolled monstrous beast she is. This is perhaps the most similar to her mimicry of the various targets throughout the entirety of Act 3; she's capable of pretending to have more control and decorum than she has. Like she's capable of more, she just CHOOSES not to be more.

I was wearing a *very* stupid hat at this point for the stats. It looked especially awful on a dragonborn, so I hid it. But Orin's impression doesn't take that into account, so she was wearing it and I couldn't take her seriously.

It’s hard to pick which one was the best for the males (8 is easily the best for the female Durge). 3 is oozing with sinister intent and euphoria. 5 (the canon voice) has the confidence and venom in the deliveries. 7 has the ego and arrogance but also the most enjoyment in their sadism.

People saying "erm well voice 5 is canon because um erm the intro has it" considering the Dark Urge is the only "iconic" character that is entirely customizable, there is no such thing as a canon voice. You know what is canon? The rest of the iconic's voices, because you cannot change them. The Dark Urge is fully customizable, and thus, lacks any permanent, static features.

So the VAs are: Emerald O'Hanrahan Joshua Wichard Neil Roberts Lnsey Murrell Tina Barnes Pieter Lawman Muki Zubis Ken Nwosu According to Beth Park the senior voice director of BG3 Neil Roberts is voice no. 5 and as a lot of you stated he also does the Durge intro monologue. I don't know the order of the other VAs.
