I know this song may not be intended to be gay but by god is this my anthem. It’s amazing to find a song that perfectly captures for me the feeling of shame and realisation and fear that comes with realising your sexuality for some people. You have memories of early experiences. You push it out of your head. You later have experiences like kissing your friend on the bed, but while it meant something to you if they laugh it off you know you won’t be saying or doing anything to reveal it. It messed with her head, does that mean nothing to her was it just a joke? The differences in the ‘I don’t wanna think about it’ in the acoustic version (it’s amazing please go watch it) capture the emotions so perfectly. She’s haughty, she’s angry, at the end she’s so nakedly in pain fighting thinking about it. I love this song so much.

I relate so much with this song... I fell in love with my best girl friend when i was 12. We studied in a Catholic school that was pretty much self-declared homophobic. Back then, when I hadn't yet figured out I was trans and was still presenting as a girl and thinking I was a girl, I would feel so much shame and "catholic guilty" because I knew I liked her, even though I didn't want to, and I knew that I could never tell her how I felt. Turns out I did tell her, and just like the whole school she was homophobic, so was my classmates that found out. They all harassed me and told me I would go to hell and all that shit.
