As a person who very much disagrees with your position on the gun issue I appreciate the conversation you shared with us. There was 100 times the tact and respect in this hour then there has been on any hour of news programming in the past 30 years. I think the one of the big problems on this issue is that we don't talk to each other anymore about these issues. I doubt the politicians will do it before we do.

Thank you for this comment. I agree with The Dis panel but it's nice to see someone not agree and be able to say it with respect. I think it comes down to that: everyone thinks their views and morals are right and a lot of people cannot be tolerant of others.

I agree. That was a great comment. Let's have more discussion and less yelling and name calling.

I am now just watchng this episode as I have recently discovered this channel. I do disagree as well with the posiiton on gun control, but I also appreciated the way the conversation went. He shooter didn't have an AR-15, it was a different rifle. And you can't purchase a fully automatic weapon without a ton of money and a ton of permits. But, this is still a conversation that needs to be had. Hate is hate, and it disgusts me.

I am so proud of all of you guys, I think this was a very important episode to do and I know it is not easy to be so emotional and then broadcast that all across the internet. I was checking in on you guys on Sunday making sure everyone was okay, as well as some friends I have down in Orlando. The Orlando area is a second home to me, and all my thoughts and prayers go out to the communities down there as well as friends and families of the victims. Thank you for making sure that this tragedy does not get pushed aside from the public memory, and for being a group of people who are not afraid of who they are in the face of adversity. Love ya'll.

I go back and watch older episodes because I'm so new to your scene. I just happened upon this one today, and even tho this tragedy happened a while ago now I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and feel outraged all over again. I wanted to hug Ryno. I appreciate the frankness with which you all spoke and the real emotion conveyed (I'm not even going to lie I was getting very teary-eyed at times). It's not even about agreeing with all that you have said in the episode (as I don't on the gun issues). It's about the ability to discuss this very tragic, heartbreaking and diffiicult to talk about situation. Again really appreciate for this episode and my heart completely goes out to you all there in Orlando and anyone affected by this awful event :(

I am so proud of you guys for having this discussion. I live next to Boston and obviously a few years ago we experienced a mass attack of our own. I spent that day trying to contact all my friends that work in Boston to make sure they hadn't stepped out to go watch the Marathon. We spent several days following in shock and fear as the search went on for the gunmen. I had several classmates who were at the finish line and witnessed the bombings. Few people understand how it feels to have something like this happen in your backyard, happen to people whose names and faces you know and recognize and could've been you. It seems to be an ever growing club however. Please know Boston stands with you, and I personally am sending you all my love and prayers.

This discussion is so moving and important, thank you all for being strong enough to do it. When the Newtown CT murders happened I was devastated. It was so close for me personally and geographically that I couldn't go an hour without it being present in my mind. I was positive we would make changes in gun laws but hope of that keeps slipping away and a part of that is that many people are able to detach themselves from the horror of it. Every time I read an account of someone who was in Pulse my heart breaks, talking about the devastation and making it real for people who don't really understand is the only way to make others understand that we need to change gun laws so that this NEVER happens again.

Pete - I started subscribing to the DIS Unplugged channel a few months ago and have always looked forward to each of your webisodes. This is my first time commenting on your channel, and I wanted to applaud you for having an episode dedicated to what happened this past weekend. It's forever changed how I view Orlando and gay clubs - both of which have been safe havens for me where I have always felt welcomed for who I was and where I always felt I could be my true self. This disgusting individual has changed that for me. BRAVO to you for calling him out for what he really is and tackling this horrific event head-on. I am with all of you and Orlando in solidarity. All of the innocent victims are in my thoughts and prayers.

I feel more at home in Orlando then I do in my actual home town in the UK. Because I'm not actually from Orlando and I don't actually know anybody personally that was involved in the attacks I felt as though I couldn't cry, I kinda felt in a weird way that it wasn't appropriate even though I wanted too. Kevin and Ryno, I wish I could give you both great big hugs. Ryno - you are so right. We need to start with the basics of just treating people decently - loving your neighbor. Until we start teaching our kids to accept EVERYONE and that it's ok not be the exact same as everyone else, we will continue having hate. I fully believe kids are not born to hate; hate is taught by people around us. But as parents, we have the greatest influence to teach love over hate.
