I feel like a lot of people really overestimate the functionality of this family. They were very much on the breaking point and were just looking for a daughter to replace the one they lost as a sort of seal tape. The son doesn't want to be near any of them, the mom is a recovery alcoholic and just had a miscarriage and the dad is a cheater who is still not over his wife almost killing their deaf daughter.
@paulinegallagher7821 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I also think its really selfish of them to not focus on their own children and invest their time with a strange child the other siblings arent comfortable with from the outset. I know its only a movie but stuff like this (homicidal woman child aside) happens all the time; parents fostering troubled kids without considering the impact it will have on their own kids. They are expected to share their home and their lives with a stranger.

Even though it has some dark humor, Orphan works as both horror and psychological thriller. It has a fine balance of both of those things which is what makes Orphan stand out from other films from the killer kid subgenre of horror.

I noticed your Titanic poster in the background. Fun fact: Leonardo DiCaprio was a producer on this film and he's pretty much responsible for Isabelle Fuhrman being cast as Esther. That shot at the end when Esther drowns in the lake is a homage to Jack Dawson sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Btw, this is the best reaction I have seen to Orphan. I love your personality and you guys are hilarious! I'm looking forward to watching your Orphan: First Kill reaction next.

i have only ever watched reactions of first-time watchers because it's kind of like revisiting my own journey experiencing the film the first time through someone else, and i like the theorizing and discussions about how they think the story will unfold, but i have to say that there is actually a charm to watching re-watchers too. I could relate to the eye rolls and understand the sarcasm and biting remarks because we *all* already know which characters are questionable or are up to no good. while i may miss hearing the wild theories and seeing the surprised reaction to the twist, it's still quite refreshing to watch the retrospective reactions of "omniscient" re-watchers.

Orphan is one of the greatest psychological horror movies of all time. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes. The tone and element was scary, creepy, spooky, eerie, dark, gritty, urban, and gothic which works perfectly for the movie. That twist still gives me chills and goosebumps. 😰😱 Isabelle Fuhrman did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Esther Coleman as she put tons of emotion and depth into her role. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍😎💯👍

the dad in this movie pissed me off so much. all of the signs that esther was dangerous was literally right in front of him. even the nun who came over the house warned him that bad things always happen when esther is around and yet you still assume that she’s this perfect little angel? he kept riding for her when he barely even knew her. daniel falls off a treehouse and breaks his neck, max almost gets into a car crash due to esther messing with the car, and the nun is murdered minutes after she warned the parents and in each of those instances esther turns out fine and yet he still doesn’t bat an eye? he refused to listen to anybody’s suspicions and he refused to take what anyone is saying into consideration. the sad thing is, he didn’t even realize the truth about esther until it was too late. i understand he has trust issues with his wife because of her alcoholism but in a situation like this, you MUST believe your wife. his stupidity caused his downfall. the stupidest EVER
