To keep the phantom from beating on you, play the music box, in your inventory, you got from the previously related mission. It's in the old man's house, he lets you keep it.

Its a side quest. Go to the healing building and talk with the guy in the reception area. He will give you another side quest first. Both are connected...

This mission was insanely buggy for me. I never could interact with the phantom, she just eventually attacked me and I had to kill her
