What’s wrong with being gay and if we all are sinners, what’s the difference? Well, according to my spiritual father Nectarios who is a Saintly man his response to me was…. when we sin we quickly try and correct our sin by going to confession and refrain from doing that sin again, the homosexuals accept a lifestyle of sin and do not repent.

This is precisely the case. A gay sinful act isn’t more of a sin than, say, pride or lust- regardless of the sin, we must repent and not justify it as being good, as only God knows what is good. We rely on the scripture and apostolic tradition for truth. Each man must bear his cross, and a man with displaced sexual desire must try to repent and avoid acts of the flesh.

Sinful passions explained by some people are wrongly thought to define their humanity. Such people can’t justify why they think this way, but rather they just embrace their sinful passions and describe them as defining them. Being a parent and partaking in creation alongside God then feeling the love of a parent for their child; that's the most important lesson and experience we can ever have. To understand that love is to understand "For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son". Homosexuality takes away that gift of understanding life and love and replaces it with death; love that does not bring life. That's one reason why God calls it an abomination.

I used to be a convicted atheist and was educated in biology so I did understand these parasexualities were not the original design and I also saw through a lot of the twisting of genetic evidence to be something that we all wanted it to be - i.e. an innate on/off switch - because I had a better grasp of exactly how genes work than most of my lgbt activist friends, but that didn't matter to me. Things can be repurposed, after all, and I couldn't see the harm in it even though I actually lived out a cycle of development in that direction that felt bad but was impossible to judge until I met God, learned He was Christ, and He brought light to the shadows in my soul. The thing that changed as regards my intellectual "opinion" on homosexuality was that once God is seen as real, ontology suddenly matters. The original design becomes a target that makes even a slight erring to either side less ideal. To miss the mark is literally and figuratively sin. This also shifts the recognition of it as a sin from the hateful judgment I once interpreted Christians as conveying (in fairness, many do) but I do think it is impossible to make a non-believer understand. They don't give weight to ontology. The only thing that changed me was God. First and foremost share God and trust Him to change others. Honestly if He changed me it can happen to anyone who is at least willing to bow to truth.

@@gknight686 Well first thing is that there's a lot of room around what we know for more details. That immediately should stifle any certain statements about a lot of things. Second, what is known is a lot more complicated than the simplified statements used to begin introducing the model to students, and the more complex the organism, the more complex the genome. So where we learn about a gene for tall pea plants and another for short pea plants, or for different colour flowers etc., this is all well and good but if you stop there, it might be easier to believe that there is a gene that makes one "straight" or "gay" when you read headlines that imply this based on papers few read in full or with full context. Even with Gregor Mendel's pea plant experiments we all study in school, if you repeat them you will not get such neat results. He certainly removed the outliers. And that's fine because he was honing in on an as-yet-unnoticed pattern and he hadn't agreed to any sophisticated scientific methodology based on lessons in the future. But in those fuzzy edges of his data set lay clues of more complication, at least some of which we now understand from studies in proteomics or epigenetics. The reality is that, just as in every scale of reality from atoms to molecular chemistry, cells, nervous systems, ecological relationships and politics, a complexity of genes operate in a complex environment. No one factor defines the results. Now some results/phenotypes from particular genotypes will be higher or lower on a structural caussl hierarchy - being human, being male or female, having functioning nervous and endocrine systems, and even these are influenced by the environment in utero and during development. Hormonal balance, nutrition, parental relationships, modeled behaviour, etc. So there are certainly genetic factors that influence the development of homosexual desires but they do not correspond to the level of causal hierarchy in the original design of sexual parts and nor do their environmental or social factors correspond to the level of causal hierarchy of the original design. Rather, they are always modification of an underlying structure designed for sexual reproduction. Now, again this is not a point that renders study of the genetic factors as illegitimate. From a geneticist's point of view, all genomic structures are causal hierarchied developed over time by such modifications. A geneticist can isolate any set of genes associated with a trait (appearing significantly more in individuals with that trait) whether it's high or low intelligence, cancer or cancer-resistance, or homosexuality or gender disphoria. They can then ask if those genes are adaptive - leading to greater reproductive success - or not. There is no reason to dismiss such questions and they can lead to understanding of how things work. They don't, however, have the bearing on moral or spiritual reality that I (before encountering God) and many would like them to have. Whether or not something is adaptive does not distinguish right or wrong. It can be very adaptive to murder all reproductive competition, or r**e. Of course, this depends on context. In most human societies this would not be adaptive because people would group together against such people but it depends. I'm just picking extremes to undermine a supposed principle. A strong hypothesis of adaptiveness for homosexuality is kin-selection. Essentially, if resources are low, or competition high, having a few gay relatives with time and energy to help you raise your children could raise their success in the next generation. If memory serves, there is strong evidence of this in Pacific Island populations. It still has nothing to do with morals or metaphysics, nor does it contradict the Biblical narrative where we see a God who endures a fallen world and constantly knits good from fallen material. Hope this answers your question to some degree.

@@danielsamaan4019You missed the point by a far. What you said is true. However, that's not the topic of the comment. The comment asks what happens next - after accepting Jesus' word as the Truth. Do gay people become monastics, should they still marry a person of the opposite sex, should they be celibate? The Orthodox Church never made clear points on this, it only ever got close to it by condemning homosexuality, which of course is right to do as a Christians, but the Church never explained to the 'gay' people (gay as in having same sex attractions) what to do after that. Yes, someone can repent. Then what? In what way should they live (ways I mentioned before) and the most important aspect - does the person have chance of salvation if they still have those attractions. The Protestants and the Catholics (I'm not an ecumenist) made it clear that attraction is one thing and action is another, which is obviously very logical, but still, for some reason - our Church never went that far in the topic of homosexuality.

Fr bless+ For an Orthodox Christian, the subject of the destruction of the antediluvian civilization sounds like a warning about the cause of the ruin and apostasy of the modern world. In the Gospel of Mark the Savior warned about the end of this world and instructed the disciples: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh (Mt. 24:34-44). The book of the Wisdom -of Solomon-When the ungodly perished, she delivered the righteous man, who fled from the fire which fell down upon the five cities. Of whose wickedness even to this day the waste land that smoketh is a testimony, and plants bearing fruit that never come to ripeness: and a standing pillar of salt is a monument of an unbelieving soul (Wis. 10:6-7). Lot’s wife is called an unbelieving soul. Our Lord Jesus Christ warns His disciples: But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Remember Lot's wife. (Lk. 17:29, 32) Jude 1;7 7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 8Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 9Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 10But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Jude 11-16 (Vespers) 11Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. 14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, ICXC NIKA

With all due respect, this is not enough explanation on the topic of homosexuality. I have lived a homosexual life for 15 years and hesring this would have never brought me back to the faith. It took me a while and listening to debates on this topic tp "be convinced" about it. Telling someone it is bad because the bible says so is like saying porn is not bad because the bible doesn't mention it. The thing that convinced me is finding the origins of where it came from for me personally. This was through some conversations with Michael Gasparro and others on the same topic. Biblical verses about didn't make sense to me because it can be contextualised and analyses in so many ways. The things that convinced me is realising that i am attracted to basically myself in a different form and that jealousy of masculine people pre puberty was sexualised during puberty and found the origin of the disorder.

I genuinely haven’t really cared, they were always there so whatever. But from what I’ve been hearing lately about stuff within that community, the more I’m questioning if they are all like that. I don’t want to pass judgment but IF that stuff is true then may god have mercy on their souls.

Explaining might help dose who are deeply trapped that the explanation may give them them strenght to persevere..For the absolute beautiful is to surrender in ALL screaming pain on our knees to our Lord Jesus Christ ..but sometimes some people need a little " push"/ help to keep them going weil they are in the wilderness because they are so trapped that they do not know to trust/ surrender..It is a blessing just to trust without " seeing" At te same time i think it is very unloving to emphasize " if blessed" than you humbly obey...What are you trying to convey to the broken..more guilt..shame..that makes us it with the pigs?!? Before my life with Christ i had a relation with a man who made me believe that if i had love in me i just would satisfy his needs even if i would need to take the last train to him 2 hours away ..having to ancounter drugaddicts...( one of a ziljoen challenges to maje me proof that i had love in me) if i an humble enough i just would...sounds a like that, does it not.. It took me years to stop evil to manipulate me and stand my ground thanks to Jesus Christ who showed me my worthiness..but i had to reach the each of almost 50 to move in trust and despite being mocked..and spit on....So please do not abuse our love and desire for God to piss on us wgen we do not know how to trust and thus humbly cry out to our Saviour..Jesus seems in his Holy allmightiness had more compassion with our lack of humbleness than by your simplistic respons if you would be humble than you would just take it by faith.. You read about the lives of the Saints and this is your arrogant answer in your position?!? ...Yes iam getting more angry the more i replay this vlog...May God have mercyvon you and me and tge blessed Theotokos interceed for both of us to meet in oyr Lord Jesus Christ..Because i am absolutly angry with your false attitude because imo you just do not know how to answer this quistion.. i do not think Saint Father Paisios or Porphoryios would ever respond like you are doing.... the more developed the mote humble..fill us with shame for not being christian enough to be humble...Let crawl back in the pit of shame or hang myself because i fall short to Gods Glory....You are doing a great job as a HUMBLE teacher/ sheperd.. As a child my earthly father beat the hell in to us inculding our mother...all he could say God demands me to discipline you to prefende you and ne to go to hell.....you just do it in the nane of the Saviour..way must worse...I will not allow you to do that to Christ nor to me or any human soul... Your way of " explaining" creates a way to shame guilt..( crippleness) instead of a heart that " understands" an repentence....Shame and guilt make me gave my self away to be accepted..If i woyld honour that path i would still be with the man who had perverted sexual desires..who was fullnof horrible jalousy abd envy..with temper tantrums trowing a pan with chicken in tomatosauce straight from the fire...Or i wiuld still be trying to please my family and i would be still bectrapoed in islam/ new age..You are not inspiring to repentence only to guilt and shame..oh boy am angry!!

I struggle with this because of a gay family member. My niece has been happily married (legally) to a woman for several years and they are raising 2 children together that were birthed by her wife. I know so many girls her age who have multiple children by multiple fathers out of wedlock who aren’t able to provide a stable home for their kids. So when I see this happy, loving family it’s hard to perceive it as something bad.

It's usually my opinion that that's the least harmful version of it that the left tries to assert is the majority/ all of them but in reality is an extremely small minority of the population. If they were all monogamous and modest it would not be as big of a problem as it is but unfortunately that's just not the truth
@polha49662 күн бұрын
they need psychological therapy to overcome the trauma... instead they try to embrace the gayism to say it s ok that nothing happened to them... because they dont wanna face their demons... They are made gay by enviroment and sexual abuse as kids. There s no gay gene as the biggest recent scientific research in 2022 on gays has shown/ google there s no gay gene and you ll find it for yourself

"if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if He rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment." The best sermon I ve listened on the matter is by Metropolitan Mesogaias Nikolaos (just check his CV). It has been translated in English, but KZbin has taken it down as they ve told me. Nobody knows why. Nothing offensive there. Just speaking in terms of science and biology. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGXclJ6Bh9CAZ9E If you are interested, you might try to contact the admins to send you the translation. Question. My Mum is in her mid 70s and wants to get married again. What on Earth has that got to do with having children again and being blessed by God? Nothing! My Mum is a widow and seeking love again with her new man. Sorry father I disagree with you. Also I know the Greek Orthodox Church in 2024 has accepted Gay Marriage. We are all God's children and when I go to see my maker, God, the discussion is between Him and me. It is no one else's business what is right for me or my Mum. We are all blessed children of God. By the way, don't you think the Orthodox church should start saying their prayers in Modern Greek and English? If you live in France then French, etc. This is also another reason why Gen X onwards have walked away from the Church. Modernise and the masses will come back. We are all sinners but is up to us to ask for forgiveness only from GOD. Amen.
@OrthodoxEthos2 күн бұрын
You are very mistaken if you think that the Orthodox Church has accepted “gay marriage” (i.e. homosexual relations)? Where did you get this crazy idea from? It has certainly not and never will. It is clearly and absolutely condemned in HolyScripture. With regard to your mother, certainly what she seeks at her age is not sexual relations per se or primarily, but a true friendship and that is nothing at all resembling a homosexual relationship. With regard to the judgment, you will stand alone before God and your conscience will accuse you of whether or not you loved him and sought to obey him. Those who lived for him and sought to do His will, and keep his commandments, will have a clean conscience and will be united already in love and communion with him. With regards to the question of language, the Orthodox Church has hundreds of parishes in America and Canada and Australia that use the English language.

The non-religious can never accept this point as it is being argued. Lying, stealing, adultery, even fornication can be demonstrated to do harm to people's wellbeing and society at large but there has been little case for homosexuality. If harm cannot be demonstrated then your stance is ever undermined.
@Cobruh_Commander3 күн бұрын
Increased likelihood of mental illness, STD's, substance abuse, abusive relationships, infidelity, all fit the bill of harm.

Most of the self identifying homosexuals I know are especially afflicted with lying, stealing, and fornication. I judge their sins as I would the sins in myself. Let our fruits bear witness to the truth.
@daltonlamari94463 күн бұрын
It's because it is not the proper telos of sexuality. Christ was actually incredibly strict about the topic. The issue is how its being handled, and how the modern world historically has dealt with it. Given the power of the modern state, you even so much as breathe wrong you could have a boot kicking down your door. imagine how traumatized and afraid homosexuals are.
@AJ02233 күн бұрын
For one thing I would say they are lying, so there's that. But I think you're wrong I think homosexuality is demonstrably harmful, beside the obvious health risks there are correlations between homosexuality and domestic violence, child abuse, and all manner of self harm - including some things that you specifically mentioned. Things don't exist in vacuums.

Ask the many boys out there that have been preyed upon and molested by homosexual men, and then tell me it hasn't harmed society. Ask Sodom and Gomorrah...
