You must be thinking of a different fight. There's a video of Tito's reaction to Ken's weigh in and he's laughing at him for fucking up the weight cut and draining himself too far below the limit. That's part of the reason he gassed out so quickly and Tito barely even had to try after the first round.

this trilogy saved the UFC as well, people give a lot of credit to bonnar and griffin, but this trilogy was vital as well in saving the company, the fight between tito and shammrock did huge numbers, and did the highest ppv buys ever back then

Chuck put the UFC back on the map. His fights where the main draw. TUF got the casuals on board but Chuck kept them. This "trilogy" was just a way to get Tito ready to fight Chuck again. I really hate when people say Griffin Bonnar was the turning point. That fight is overrated and sloppy.

Well remember, something that I learned a little while back is that the line has nothing to do with who they actually think is going to win the fight, they just put it as close as they can to make sure they get even money on both sides so there was a lot of people out there I guess thought shamrock had a shot, and retrospect I would have parlayed all three fights over 10 years lol and made myself a millionaire because I didn't actually think you would win. Just like the fight shamrock had against kimbo the whole thing seemed like a fix. Ken seems like the guy at this point his career who would take the bigger payday and lose on purpose because he was broke. Tito is and always was a disrespectful punk. His antics against the Lion's Den; his "bury the body" celebration; his massive amounts of terrible, incoherent "trash talk"... you name it. He capped it off by teaming up with Oscar de la Hoya to challenge a 49 year old Chuck Liddell. Chuck had been retired for 8 years, while Tito had still been fighting, and Chuck's once-steel jaw had been proven to have been turned to glass. Everyone knew what the result was going to be before the fight started, and then Tito just had to celebrate like he had won a championship (complete with the "bury the body" celebration

Ken Shamrock has been my inspiration since the Pancrase days. I honestly think he should’ve stopped fighting after he defeated Brian Johnston at UFC 11 1/2. That was his last great fight as he executed, and dominated with a powerful double leg, ground and pound, and finished with a forearm choke. Ken needed money to repair his shoulder and ACL during the time of him and Ortiz in 2004. After the WWF, he had one penny, and only an air mattress in his apartment, and was completely broke. But he also did it for the fans for them to see shamrock and Ortiz. It’s a very sad trilogy because we all knew that Ken was never the same after leaving the UFC back in the 90s. He didn’t have the skill, the conditioning, the strength let alone the timing to keep up with everyone that was coming up into a new era of fighters. Ken Shamrock will forever be legendary in the no holds barred era.

i disagree, i think ken should have retired after he knocked out kimo in 2004, he still had a bit to give, but given his age and the sports evolution he just wanst gonna make it. he had no acl's in any of the ortiz fights. very sad trilogy indeed, hell, it was straight up unfair. Shamrock started in this when it was bare knuckles and no weight classes…. Tito threw a temper tantrum when Ken weighed in at a pound overweight only to make himself look like a complete fool when he then weighed in at 1 1/2 pounds over lol. That is a true warrior not wanting to fight because of 1lb LOL.

What a gem of a channel. I watched UFC 40 over and over again on VHS. Rogan and Goldie, Dana with hair, Bruce Buffer with dark hair. Big John officiating. Tito finds it so easy to antagonise Ken. Amazing memories 🦁

Going from an 8yo fan of the wrestler Ken Shamrock, to finding UFC at like 13-14 so I could see Ken vs Tito... man this was heartbreaking for a young me. Ofc now I understand that, ironically, Tito was the one playing a role to sell tickets, and Ken was the one being immature. Still Lions Den for life. And his WWF theme was a banger.

Shamrocks prime was 1994 when he was 30 years old. By the time of their first fight, Shamrock was 38, and Ortiz was 27. Shamrock was past his prime, but also in fairness MMA fighters were much improved by 2002, when they abandoned 1 dimensional art craft, and became experts in all forms of fighting.

Season 3 of TUF was so hilariously entertaining with Ken acting like a man child while Tito had a blast getting under Ken skin. Tito was a good coach while Ken was horrible and didn't give a crap about his team and was really cringe for no reason. This really showed what type of guy Ken is. Man has the UFC came so far since UFC 40 to UFC 61 to today UFC 290 fixing to happen next, what a time to be alive. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I believe that Frank beating Tito made Ken think Tito was a push over. Ken didn't like how successful Frank was, and "it stuck in his craw" that Frank beat a man that tore him apart three times in a row. I think what really bothered Ken was that his brother beat Tito by TKO, but Ken could never beat him and every time he tried he got destroyed as you will see in the above. As well, I believe this is what drove Ken to want to fight Frank. He wanted some type of redemption in his own eyes because of it. Ken mistreated Frank, and drove him out of the Lion's Den. Frank then went out on his own and ended up beating Tito; note that was a title fight which Frank defended and ultimately vacated the title after defending it. Again this is a feat that Ken never could do. So all the discussion and talk about who would win in a fight between Ken and Frank, is just that, allot of talk. I like Tito, and Tito no disrespect but Frank beat Tito by TKO. That fight was named fight of the year by UFC. It was not a light weight fight. Noting that, there was no way I would ever think Frank would loose to Ken, except if Frank didn't want to hurt his bully of an adopted brother - Ken. Frank would tear Ken apart if got his mind in the fight. Ken was never really good, he was just a bruiser.
