Hello Dave, I' am using this 61 SF with 7H Carburator in an old Heim Helicopter. Final settings after break in leads to a bullet proof engine. Used Fuel is 15 % Oil, 10 Nitro, 75 Methanol. During Summer no signs of overheating, in the Winter time also proper operation with no issues. Plug is OS 8. That is the most uncomplicated and reliable Engine that i have ever owned. Thanks a lot for your Videos, we will keep the old fashioned Glows going Brgds from Germany Joerg

For me, the difference in performance between FAI fuel and nitro in my OS Max and Saito engines is so small that it does not matter to me. However, Enya 60 4c without nitro works terribly.

Very nice run David. The owner of the Flying Club I'm a member of, has 2 very old, 80's era, OS 1.08 engines, both of which still perform admirably. Which begs the question, is it indeed true that older engines were of much better quality? Worth mentioning, neither of them has ever been opened for any sort of work... which stuns me completely. Regards Harry

Absolutely older engines made 30+ years ago are of much higher quality!!! I talk about that ALL the time on my channel. You don’t see many, if any current engines here do you? There is a reason for that...

I totaly agree with you, old engines are the best one’s and i really like when you run this old OS engines. SF or FSR is maybe the best engines made. I just got hold of an old 90FSR. I will be a pleasure to run. Thanks for your videos. Greetings from Sweden.

I have one of those from a dearly departed friend of mine. I freed it up and ran it a while back. I was having some trouble keeping the low speed adjustment from moving. It also seems very sensitive. Is there any tension adjustment to tighten that up? I was running a wood 12x6 at similar RPM with low nitro fuel.
@dmrcflyr2 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the tension adjustment, I doubt it. There is a link in the description for engine manuals I have posted. In that is the manual for the 61SF and the Type 7L carb. The 7L carb is part of the 61SF manual, not separate.

One of my favorite engines back in the days, and still is. Have two of them. Sturdy construction and easy to adjust. Timeless design. Can I ask you what your experience is on adjusting 2 strokes or 4 strokes? Is one easier than the other in general? I always had some more issues adjusting my FS-70 than the SF61. Thank you for posting videos.

My experience? How many videos have you seen on my channel? I have posted over 1000 videos and have over 30 years experience owning and operating hundreds of glow engines.

@@dmrcflyr2Sorry, I expressed my self unpresicely (English is my second language) I know you have a lot of experience with this. I was just wondering whether you find two strokes or four strokes the most easy to adjust in general. Thanks

A carburetor is a carburetor. That is what is tuned. It doesn’t make a difference what type of engine it is on. Personally I find each type of engine equally easy to tune. Engine tuning takes a good ear, understanding of hire the engine should operate and experience.

Nice video! I have a OS SF 46 that I run 15% nitro glow fuel. Would the nitro-less FAI glow fuel work with it?
@dmrcflyr2 Жыл бұрын
I have a playlist titled the FAI experiement. I suggest you watch some of the many videos there. I run two and four stroke engines. But yes, any glow engine will theoretically run on FAI fuel. Tuning is a bit different and possibly a different plug required.
