Looks like you'll be putting in a lot of extra work with this one. Thank God for ultrasonic cleaners I remember having to soak engine parts for days or even weeks in different chemicals at home and now getting results so much quicker. I'm sure you'll do this engine justice and have it running fine

Hoohooo!!! I just open my engine "Only remove the bots for one of the Sleeve & Head valve" and my engine doesn't have a single bit of rust!! I'm so incredibly happy! I was very careful as I re-mounted the Cylinder back... even took the time to bring it in at the same level to don't lose any type of crank case compression.. I'm so incredibly happy!! this was truly taking away my peace of mind!! This time I actually did a Hydro lock flooded the entire engine with engine oil...Will put the hole engine in an large ziplock bag.. and store it again..

Don't even have a clue how I found your channel!! now I just can't stop watching it!! great job!!! I use to flood my FT300 with SAE 20W40... but I still incredibly fearful because I use to be really aware that the oil eventually licked out "I'm perfectly aware that the back bearing is rough.. so I'm expecting to see a horror movie when I open mine!!

Ok the cranckshaft parts are the late version of the FF-320, the early version of FF-240/FF-320 cranckshaft parts does't have the center hole where they mate with the collar adapter, probably the severe rust was due to run in a very rich fuel mixture (recomended for break in) if you store the engine just after this, the unburnt fuel/ oil mixture left in the cranckase will collect humidity over the time, and then you know the rest; this hapened to a fellow in the club long time ago,(with pretty the same results as this engine), by the way the manual tells that if you gonna store for a long time flush the internals thoroughly with kerosene and then use an after run oil. (I just flush the internals with M.Mistery oil, just that)

Wow. Looks like they may have flown it s few times then potentially crashed it full of high nitro fuel the just gave up and put it in storage. 10 years later its on Craigslist for a steal! Glad its in your hands Dave, it'll be running like new in no time! Can't wait to hear that flat four purr!

Any of you guys owning a FF320, have noticed a play between the two crank halves, my engine have a play that makes a clicking sound when I flip the propeller, I wonder if it will be an issue over time? (it can be detected by locking the 2 rear pistons with wooden dowels in the spark plug holes, and you still can feel the propeller=front crank still can moves a little.)

My guess would be it's been kept in a high moisture area such as a barn or storage shed for it to have that damn much rust. I have a friend that keeps his stuff in a barn door wide open I would bet his OS 120 looks like that on the inside also he never oils anything :-(

nitro does awful damage, i was amazed to see the rust you will have this engine singing in no time it could not be in better hands

If there is pitting on the cam lobes, I would replace the cam if I were the owner.

I have all replacement parts on hand. The owner sent all parts to be replaced with the engine.
