Hi Mitch, great video and thanks. I was mucking around with this myself at the time I spotted your video. As an extra tip for people if you view the package contents you should be able to find what date the last file was added to an OS version you downloaded (from where ever) use that date for your clock :D Good luck.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCCHHHH, finally you explained why it doesnt work, other people said it was timing issue but didnt say i had to roll back, i have an macbook pro with lion and i cant find anything else that will install from lion other than mountain lion, so after mountain lion i can go to catalina wich is the most it can handle, no one expect you mentioned that apple will not le tthe thing install after a certain date, just that piece of info alone was all i needed, thank you so so much !!!

Having a bit of a differnent problem I'm trying to reformat from disk on a probably 2010 17 inch mac, hold option, etc. But when I go to the top bar there's no options for terminal, anything. is there a short key to open terminal? My drive had already been erased so I have no way of using the normal time set menu's.

Hey thanks mate it seems to be working. I kept getting the error after updating the date to the current but it was still doing the same error. Mind you, my mac book pro was not booting at all so I was booting from a boot usb flash drive. I didn't realize that they wanted to force me to upgrade to the newer version. So I have been trying to load yosemite but failing. So in the terminal window I just set my date to the year 2012 instead of 2017 and that went around it. Hopefully this will help someone still getting the same message.

2020-03-29 = Thank you! Works perfect as you stated: changing clock to 2015... Upgrading from Snow Leopard (10.6.8) to my legally purchased copy of Mountain Lion. Then restarted & reset clock to correct date. PERFECT!

@@eBragaParah mine is a late 2010 MacBook Pro and it worked perfectly! I change the clock yo 2015, restarted the computer, clicked on the "install mountain lion" icon that I had loaded onto my computer beforehand, it loaded it all up, I restarted again, then I change the clock back to normal.

+NWIPrepper19113 I just got my wife a new windows 10 laptop.. it kept asking for a phone number and to create an online account etc. I ended up downgrading my computer back to 7 and run Linux on my main computer. They are just trying to collect too much information on the user on windows 10. There is a way to create a local account on a win 10 machine they just make it a pain to find. I need a new computer I just don't feel like spending the money.

NWIPrepper19113 Actually Windows 7 is on extended support until January 14, 2020. You should be ok. The extended support is due to companies like ours running it need that must time to get proprietary apps to work on 10. Vista is still supported until April 11, 2017.
