Really enjoyed it, makes me more excited to go to Japan… I would be fascinated to see you do something akin to the street photography video with Professor Hines that goes into what you record travel video… Started playing around with my phone gimbal again, but its obviously a whole new skill set and my photography brain doesn’t have the same concepts for doing things in motion…
@JasonVong Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I actually have done something similar for Travel Filmmaking back in 2019: geni.us/g8dIM It's a link to a playlist of videos I've done on Japan as well. There is a particular video that I've done that focuses on gimbal motions as well! Hope it's what you were looking for!

amazing quality! Made me want to go back to Japan again! How do you feel about the lens being f4? Did it feel like enough? I’ve been debating that or the Tamron 20-40
@JasonVong Жыл бұрын
If you have time, check out my review. I linked it in the pin comment of this video. But essentially I enjoyed the extra reach this lens provides me over the Tamron. Both are excellent choices but if low light is too much of an issue, go Tamron! Or the Sony for the flexibility and add a prime lens to your kit!

I'm heading to Japan in March 2024 with an organized group that does give you a lot of freedom and my starting point is Osaka. Leaving Amsterdam on March 16 and arriving in Osaka on March 17, getting a free day on March 18 to explore Osaka on my own/with other group members before going to Koyasan on March 19, so under the best circumstances I have one evening, one whole day and maybe one morning. The things I'd like to visit in Osaka are Osaka Castle, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and DenDen town so I wonder if these are realistic goals for a full day in Osaka.

Hi Jason, great video! How do you go about white balancing and color when you’re filming a variety of lights conditions? Does adding a LUT and shoot on flat hide the white balancing differences?
@JasonVong Жыл бұрын
I just mainly stick to Sunny WB. If it looks too warm indoors, I would dial it down to something cooler. If it's too cool in the shade, I would switch to Shade WB. Now that you brought it up, the LUT does help hide some minor imperfect color imbalance - but it's always best to shoot properly in the moment.
@tylor7978 Жыл бұрын
Hello Jason, I love the looks of your footages. Did you shoot in Slog3 then color grade it with a lut in post?
@JasonVong Жыл бұрын
For the night stuff only I shot SLOG3. The rest no picture profile. I used a mixture of different warm tone luts in post!
