Daruma, an Osaka-based chain of shish-kebabs, overcame the Corona disaster to once again expand overseas!
We covered the challenge of opening a new store in Jakarta, Indonesia, and spreading the taste of Osaka to the local market.
The top management is personally involved in instructing the local staff and preparing the store, and especially for Muslims, the menu excludes pork and offers spicy sauces tailored to local tastes. During his first visit, the chairman keenly realized the need to improve pricing and menu items to suit the local food culture, and is now working to further adapt the restaurant to the local market. The local staff is also expected to grow, with a newly married staff member working alone being promoted to store manager. Positive challenges will continue in the future to make Osaka's soul food a success in Jakarta.
