People don’t remember Hopkins promised to outbox De la Hoya and not use his size on him. He tried for several rounds but it wasn’t working. Once he realized this he turned up the heat, muscled and started beating Oscar up. I know this is going to piss people off but I think Oscar took a dive because he was starting to take too much damage. He’s not the type to go out on his shield or eat a lot of damage.

To me, this was as close to WWE as boxing could be! This entire fight was choreographed from start to finish! These guys are the biggest buddies in the boxing world, there was no way they were going to go hammer and tongs with each other! I don’t remember much about this fight if it was very competitive? Bernard was too strong. I also remember Oscar saying he was having addiction issues. I wonder if those addictions affected his performance in some of these later fights. He did not look good if I remember right against Manny or Floyd.
