@@Reese8531 Clearly the same fight you didn't know how to judge. I mean, where do we start, the excessive holding SRL did? He held when he was in trouble, he held when he would miss, he held at times for the sake of holding. Warned throughout the ENTIRE fight about his excessive holding. The non effective punches that were nothing more than gloves padding Marvins gloves and shoulders? Stealing rounds with combo flurry's that weren't punches and had no actual power behind them? Ray, ran, jabbed and held or rushed in, missed and held, flurried when he was getting beat down and ran back. It was the most pathetic performance I have ever seen any boxer display. This fight has been analyzed for decades by boxing experts and computer technology and the fact is that Marvelous Marvin Hager landed 73 percent of all clean punches landed. If Leonard threw a 6 punch combination and landed 1 clean punch, the crowd went crazy and obviously his score went up, however the fact is this. Apart from the fact that Haggler should never have agreed to Leonards demands for a bigger ring than the standard size and bigger gloves than the standard size, so Leonard could run away from Haggler and Haggler would find it more difficult to hurt Leonard with the bigger gloves. Haggler should have never agreed to the fight when Leonard ran away from Haggler when they were both in their prime and refused to fight Haggler

Sugar Ray with his non effective, jaw dropping, crowd cheering flurry punching that did nothing other than hit Marvins gloves followed by hugs that even the Care Bears would be envious of. I have watched and re-watched and in slow motion and feel bad for the morons that thought Ray Leonard won, because they clearly weren't analyzing the fight, and Marvelous Marvin Hagler himself, for being robbed of a victory. Start of the 5th round, Marvin just walked him down the whole fight, and he did it beautifully. I'll never erase that 118 -110 score from my mind though.

Never tire of this. A classic of the ages. Leonard like the matador to the bull. Proving boxing is about movement, being smart, defence and counter offence. He approached this the way Bruce Lee wòuld have if he was a boxer. The art of boxing. Well thats my view but the opposing view is he run and stole the fight! 😂 Hagler was one dimensional in this fight plodding forward throwing the same punches hoping he would grind down Leonard and knock him out but he fell into the trap.

Yh. Hagler really should have been kicking himself when he gave away the first 2 rounds when he decided to fight out of an orthodox stance. If he didn’t do that there would be no controversy. Although there would also be no guarantee that he would win the first 2 rounds if he fought out of a southpaw stance.

Hagler was the aggressor through the whole fight but he missed so many punches and that made Leonard look good. Leonard’s flashy faster punches every now and then impressed the judges more although it didn’t hurt Hagler. Leonard did enough to impress the non believers bu5 I’m not sure if it was enough to win the fight. Hagler probably won but considering he did so well against Hearns he didn’t look impressive enough.

Damn that judge that scored it 118- 110 for Leonard should get the death penalty lol Leonard ran around the ring for most of the fight I thought he was a nascar drive with all them laps he took lol but smart on him he knew better not to meet him in the middle he learned from sutra. hagler was pressing him all fight after round 4 it was all hagler Leonard was gased.

Hagler fights going to the judges, most times were unfavorable even as a champ. I never seen Marvelous ever being shook up from a punch. It was said he had a very hard skull! He was amazing. It used to be back in the day where you had to literally knockout the champion to become the champion...except if you were Ray Leonard. And to make it worse Leonard did not agree to 15 rounds, needed a ring the size of a 2 bedroom apartment, and never gave a rematch to Marvelous

What a fight remember it went. I had Leonard winning. Out of the 12 rounds Leonard clearly won 5 and Hagler 2. The 5th and the 9th clearly Hagler’s That leaves 5 close rounds. If you favoured Hagler in those you give the fight 7-5 for Hagler. If you favoured Leonard in close rounds you give it to him.

As Hagler was a fantastic natural middleweight fighting in his comfort zone against a blown up welterweight, he should have blasted Leonard out in seven rounds . Leonard Duran Hearns and Benitez all superb boxers fought successfully fighting outside their comfort zones winning titles. None of that for Hagler, he never fought Saad Muhammad. Leonard is like an SAS special forces thinking solider , he’s the thinking boxer. Leonard’s superior boxing brain boxing skill and super fast hands beat Haglers brute force. Brain beat brawn.

Hi since your into fix fights there’s a fab film called The harder they fall. It stars Humphrey Bogart and Rod Steiger . It’s based in the 1950s about fixed fights ,fighters taking dives . Promoters and mangers making loads of money of the poor boxers. Ex heavyweight champs Jersey Joe Walcott and Max Baer appear in it a couple of times. It’s an excellent movie 8/10. Regarding the Hagler Leonard fight. Even though Leonard was a blown up welterweight compared to a natural middleweight in Hagler fighting in his comfort zone, Leonard won. Leonard boxing brain boxing skill and super fast hand speed beat haglers brute force. Brain beat brawn.
