I love the guitar score from Babel. It gives that sort of pumped emotion

Gustavo Santaolalla's music just gives you a - I don't know, a metaphysical feel - It's so heavy and light at the same time like an echo in the soul or something. He totally deserved this. His song in Amores Perros and then in Motorcycle Diaries were indelible works or art as well.

the music from Pan's Labyrinth is soo beautiful, but I feel that it was something that we have heard before. On the other hand, Gustavo Santaolalla made a track with completely rare instruments and created a suspense and dramatic atmosphere. My vote is for either of those 2 :P

DEFINITELY!! He was deservedly awarded for Brokeback Mountain, but this one had NO POINT at all; just because Babel needed to get one of the nods; period.

I think Thomas Newman was the best composer up for that award, but i think that it should have gone to Pans Labrynth. I love Thomas Newman, and the Good German score was good, but it's not my favorite of his. As for babel, the score was not oscar nomination worthy. He just happens to be the hot thing since he did Brokeback Mountain, which the soundtrack was not that great either, that one won just because of the whole gay pride thing.
