Marc Cawood Well, shit, I damn well hope the judge knows the difference. On another note, I had to Google "Aish" two or three deep to figure out how you meant it, having never been to SA. I know it means "fire" in Hebrew, and I've heard it from former colleagues in Korea. Clever use of it as an 'official' slang word. It's used here too, only it's an undefined exclamation the sound you make when you've just spilt a drink on someone you're trying to impress, but you don't want to say "ai, shit." Fascinating dialect. I once referred to a colleague's South African husband as an Ozzie, and he wanted to bash me in the fucking teeth. Touchy, touchy. =)

Can't believe they are asking for a two week holiday in the middle of such a high profiled trial . I hope this judge has enough sense to deny this tomorrow , but I have my doubts . This judge allows breaks every time Oscar sniffles . They consider 3-4 hrs a full court day . We will be here until 2015 at this pace . Another OJ trial and a colossal waste of taxpayers money .

It concerns me when someone with authority to upload & report on such a trial, does not even know the VAST difference between doing something "confidentially" & 'confidently' : sabcdigitalnews "State prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, has confidentially put it to Oscar Pistorius that the High Court in Pretoria will find out that he intentionally shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp" There is also a difference between "find out" as in discover & find' as in come to a conclusion.

I said earlier that I think the bruises look like big raised blood blisters.as one gets when hitting your hand or finger with a hammer. Reeva's back looks like its been tweaked between two surfaces coming together; Like catching your skin between a slamming car door

Why would Oscar throw his entire life away over a woman he knew for approximately 4 months. He was not invested in this relationship long enough to be that angry to murder her, to loose EVERYTHING he has worked so hard to achieve. He also has no prior domestic abuse altercations. he made a terrible mistake by not knowing where Reeva was and not making sure it wasn't her that was in the bathroom before he shot the gun. He very well could have been full of fear that someone broke in his house. My goodness, everyone is so quick to judge. At the very most it should be involuntary manslaughter or negligent homicide, if there is such a thing in South Africa. He was the Golden boy and now he is nothing but dirt. Reasonable doubt seems to be very present here. His life is OVER people no matter what the outcome of this trial. I do feel very sad that this sweet girl lost her life through no fault of her own. If he did it the way the prosecution says he did then he should go to jail. But if he did it the way Oscar says it happened he should not spend the rest of his life in jail. Like I said. No matter the outcome the life as he knew it is over.

Also, to bolster the State's case that Reeva was standing close to the door during his shooting orgy. Both hip and upper arm wound had wood splinters in and around them. Very disappointed with Nel's wrap-up. He went out with a whimper IMO. Perhaps time constraints were an issue, but his closing speech on OP's testimony was not strong at all. For instance, why did she have clothes on? All I heard was that she fell asleep wearing the vest and shorts. Why wasn't that questioned...or did I miss something? When he brought up the black talon bullets at the end, why didn't he link that deadly ammo to OP's numerous comments about not wanting to hurt or kill anybody? If you don't want to risk killing someone, then don't use that kind of ammunition. Also, she had her cell phone with her in the toilet. Was that to pass the time while she was going? Or, an attempt to call for help? Nel never brought up why he repeatedly to Reeva to call the police (at least twice) after he had already whispered/softly spoken to her about it. After all, he was so certain she was in bed at the time. Yesterday, when the photo of the right side of the bed was shown, I wondered why the hair clipper was still upright near the bed. If as Oscar stated, Reeva had gotten down on her side of the bed (right side) to call the police, I would not have thought the clipper would still be upright. Wouldn't she have knocked it off the charger when getting down to the floor in that pitch black bedroom?

The only thing that can truly solve this is a lie detector and they failed to use it when he answered the questions. Anyone can create lies if fighting for their life and show the same emotion he did wishing they never got themselves in. There were some odd mistakes in his versions. Also your first instinct would be to check where exactly your partner is or hear their voice shout out first before shooting - this bit catches him out, I say he intended to kill her.

He already explained (if I understood correctly) that he woke up and Reeva asked him "can't you sleep?" then he went on to fix the ventilators and supposedly she got up and walked out of the room while he was facing the ventilators, in darkness, with the noise of the fans making it possible that he wouldn't hear her get up the bed, then he heard a noise (reeva getting into the toilet) and believing she was still in bed since she had just spoken to him like a minute ago he supposedly told her to call the police and shouted to the intruders "get out of my house" or something like that, to which her, in the toilet didn't say anything, which would make sense, as if you hear your boyfriend shouting "get out of my house" you would assume there might be someone else in the house/room/toilet and you might get really scared and quiet, trying to figure out what's going on.

My question is this why did Oscar not call the police or security prior to using his gun. I would like to know did Oscar shot because he was afraid if so why did he shoot 4 times did he intend to kill the intruders or deter them. I would have shot once or twice and one last note I think he should have heard Reeva screaming from the pain from the first two bullets. Again why did not Oscar wake Reeva up and take her to the balcony and call the policefor or scream for help instead of shooting. I think Oscar is guilty in many ways. Why did Oscar break open the door of the toilet if he was so scared of the intruders? Why did he not search for Reeva first? If she did not reply to him calling out for her then did he not think that maybe she was hiding in the kitchen or in the garage or next to the bed or in the bathroom? Why did he not take her outside to make sure she was save. If he had opened the toilet door after shooting through the door, why was he not scared that the intruders could still be alive in the toilet and that they could still kill him and rape Reeva? I cannot imagine any leniency for a late honest plea of guilty. It's not even about innocence/guilt but of intent. If he now pleas that he did intend to kill her it's murder and the plea will not mitigate the sentence.

You need to separate OP's mindset at the time and his mindset in court. In his mind *at the time* she was in bed when he heard the first noise and he testifies that she *would have heard* it and thus he argues he did not confirm it with her. Both OP and Nel agree that on OP's version she was now in the bathroom and caused the noise. I've put that badly I know but it's the difference between the moment and the later reflection.

Dixon's interpretation of the marks on her back make complete sense! They look more like blood blisters, almost like she fell back hit her buttock to cause the bruise and then slid down the rack making rubbing/abrasion marks. I feel that this man can shed some more light and he speaks very clearly and explains thing well. Now the prosecution can ask more questions. I wonder if Oscar will get called back again there are still many more questions he should have been asked. What had he and Reeva discussed that evening, besides her contract. Did he like her contract. Did she own up to seeing her X. Had he followed her that day. They both left the coffee shop close almost at the same time. Him behind her. Did Reeva work out he spied etc etc. This could prove there was an agument

Caramello98 Where is this info about the coffee shop and Reeva possibly seeing her ex? I did hear something about Oscar's jealousy of her ex possibly causing an argument. Is this brought up in the trial ? Oscar's disability may have caused him to feel rage towards a man he felt was competing for Reeva's affections and Reeva clearly still had feelings for her ex but not in a sexual way any longer IMO. There was also the nasty encounter he alegedly had with another ex, the rugby player who I believe sat in the court room looking annoyed during Oscar's testimony but did not give evidence to my knowledge.

That's probably what happened. Knowing he has a monster ego and is a control freak they were probably arguing about Reeva having contact with an ex boyfriend. In a text which I read by Reeva, she said she was feeling that their relationship was possibly at the end. She probably told him she was going to leave him or they were arguing about her seeing the ex. She said you can't run my life. I am leaving you. He said, like hell you are. Who do you think you are calling? Get away from me, I am going to the bathroom. Come out or else! What are you doing in there? I am calling the police! Come out here or else! Now! I am not going to tell you again! After that, we all know what happened next! Knowing him and the yelling and argument that was heard by witnesses that night, this is what probably happened. But Oscar knows there were no witnesses so he is trying to get away with murder. I hope he gets the Maximum sentence. He should fry in jail for what he has done!

The whole thing boils down to one thing. Credibility. If the judge catches Oscar lying about even one thing, then he is done. The biggest example is when several witnesses her Reeva scream before the shots and Oscar said she was silent. If you believe the witnesses, and they have no reason to lie, then Oscar is a liar. His credibility is gone. You also have to look at a motive. He has a reason to lie. He does not want to be punished and go to jail. The witnesses have no motive for lying. You also have to look at his history. A witness at a restaurant saw Oscar fire a shot in a crowded restaurant. Oscar asked his friend to take the blame. This proves he does not want to take responsibility for his actions. Also one more thing. At the time of the killing, he and Reeva were the only ones in the house. He had time to move things, create a story and make things fit as best he could to get away with murder. What is his motive. To avoid jail time. It is also reported he took acting lessons for his trial and said to someone in court after his testimony that I will be out running after this very soon by the weekend. His disrespect for the police is documented and so is his cheating on women and love for guns. This ass should fry for life in jail. Even that would not be good enough for him. Reeva. Vince Ravon Witness, in cases like that of what you heard, are very unreliable, and witness sometimes lie, you only have to read about the case of the west Memphis three to know is more common than people think. Imagine if any of the retards commenting here had been living beside OP that night, they'd probably make up shit just because they BELIEVE he is definitely guilty, hell they'd probably wouldn't even realize that they are making up stuff rather than genuinely remembering what they heard.

thehappystack The only relevant thing Nel did was to point out that Dixon didn't use someone exactly Pistorious height on his stomps and also that Dixon didn't do the test about light with the lights outside on, as they supposedly were. Other than and the lack of visual reconstruction, which would have helped a lot, Dixon's testimony wasn't THAT bad, just went on to explain on a version of the event, that's his job after all, reconstructing event, he is not a pathologist or a ballistic experts, those will come later on.
