Tbh Lily Gladstone’s performance was more of a supporting role. When she campaigned for BA, that was a suicide mission. It’s just not her time right now and everyone trying to compare her to the Michelle Yeoh narrative, just wasn’t applicable in this instance. I was always rooting for Emma Stone. The right actress won. She gave the performance of the year and the best performance of her career!

Even though Gladstone didn't win the Oscar she still did pretty well this awards season. She should be proud of what she accomplished. It really was Emma's to lose this year and I'm so happy for the both of them.

As I correctly surmised, final voting dates for Oscar winners makes a difference. Last year, the voting period for winners began right after SAG, while this year it began right after BAFTA (a full week earlier).

Another interesting stat: of the 19 categories BAFTA and the Oscars have in common, this year BAFTA predicted 18 of the categories (the only difference being Visual Effects going to Poor Things at BAFTA). Quite the turnaround from last year’s massive differences!

Yeah it was a very satisfying win because she wasn’t the bookies fav at that point. She was a gut instinct prediction which turned out to be accurate so I was very happy she won. X

Told ya a few weeks ago that this year BAFTA would be the one getting it right 4/4. Not only that, it scored a BULLSEYE 8/8 ATL and all the BTL techs besides VFX. Got animated and documentary to match as well. Only the shorts weren't a match.

Happy for Emma, Davine, Poor Things and RDJ. Kimmel was a bad host. Poor jokes about RDJ, Madame Web, Trump, Transformers and the tequila segment was bad. New host please! On to next year, hoping as a whole next year is better. This year, I will remember The Holdovers, Poor Things and Anatomy of a Fall.

I liked Kimmel as the host… I like that he didn’t hold back from the biting humor I enjoy in these scenarios. So happy Oppenheimer did so well. That movie blew me away. (Pun intended?)

The Academy hates animated sequels unless it’s Toy Story. That’s probably the main reason Spiderverse didn’t win.

Sad that my favorite film from last year Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse lost in its category it was nominated for. I have to see The Boy and the Heron to see how it beats Spiderverse. I’m not sure if I like it considering I’m not a huge anime fan. I actually don’t like Spirited Away that much.

Miyazaki's movies have a metaphor and philosophical story, which is not everyone's cup of tea, including myself. However, Studio Ghibli offers another kind of animation with a different approach since it is made by the Japanese, who have different cultural references.

Love your shirt, Luke but I know you were probably embarrassed after how badly Barbie performed! Satisfying winners. Very bummed Lily Gladstone didn't win but very happy for Emma Stone. Very happy American Fiction won Adapted Screenplay after several thought maybe Oppenheimer or Barbie could win.

Why do you say that? Because it was possibly #2 to other #1's in any given category? If they treated it as such, it wouldn't be nominated for anything other than Billie Eilish's song, and they would rip it to shreds like they did Madame Web. It was fine. Notice that Past Lives didn't get but two shits of recognition: its own promotional trailer and the mention of "Two Greta's." Does that mean it was also treated like a silly children's movie?
