Let the jakes grow up to breed. Between the cats and the pythons they need all the help they can get. Hell even the hunter questioned if he should harvest the bird....

Legal bird, on a quota permit hunt on Florida public land, last day of the hunt… all bets are off. We will never shame anyone for harvesting a legal bird. Also, Jake’s are sexually mature and many of them do breed. And the final reason, males are significantly less valuable ecologically. You could have 1 Tom in an area knock up 50 hens and all would be fine. The hens are the important part for population growth. Thanks for watching! -Mark

@@SwampNStomp There has been multiple published studies that show that jakes rarely successfully breed hens when dominate toms are around. In the area he is hunting there is a dominate tom every quarter mile, and you know this. Its also no mystery that social media and the drive for "content" can sway the mind, exactly why he questions it and asks for reassurance before he shoots.

@@fshboy007 and yes when there is a dominant Tom around they struggle to breed, but it doesn’t matter so long as the hens ar whetting bred. And the Tom takes care of that. Not everyone hunts for trophies, some people hunt for meat. We don’t all have to have the same reasoning or values in the woods so long as it’s legal. I suggest you change your tune, and start supporting legal hunters. We have enough anti-hunting organizations working against us, we don’t need to be fighting on top of that. -Mark
