I farmed there in 1981...did the summer harvest as a student from Royal Agricultural College...stayed in the big old manor. There was an old windsurfer there...I think I can claim to be the 1st person to windsurf around the island. Wonderful memories.

I have past Osea and round the back of the Island that is very empty. Often fancied staying but very pricy so took my girlfriend to Wivenhoe as wanted see somewhere more English than touristy London. She loved Wivenhoe stayed at the Black Buoy a very old and qaint Pub.. she was amazed by the little houses and gardens and said how courteous and friendly the people were. She cycled round the area and loved it..

We have Lindisfarne island which is similar, off the coast of northumbria up here. Always tense taking my van across the causeway though... salt water and old metal not a good mix!

My family had a caravan at St Lawrence Bay. My grandad had a boat moored in the bay. We used to go out on the river a lot, fishing and also over to Osea. We’d anchor just offshore and occasionally bring the boat up onto the beach. We’d swim off the beach and the boat. We’d also explore the island a little. This was in the 1980’s.

Didn’t even knew it existed until I read aboit Olly Murs getung married there today apparently 😮 great work

It’s owned by Nigel Freida the record producer, so that probably helped him secure it as his wedding venue. My invite must’ve got lost in the post!

Some really great drone work. A fascinating place indeed. I used to holiday at St Lawrence Bay as a kid and Osea was always fascinating to me.

Really interesting, thanks. I'm planning a hike around the coast and was hoping to do the island but I guess I'll just have to admire it from afar. Cheers!

You can walk across at low tide and providing you stay below the high tide mark you’re ok but that’s all you can visit unless you pay to stay there.

Aww thanks mate. That’s kind. Is quite an intriguing place. Was going to sail round it with my friend Guy but been stuck in with Covid for the last two weeks. Hopefully that video will get made soon! Lindisfarne sounds cool, have you made a video on that, if not you should. 🙂

I used to go there um... prob 12 yrs ago now to 'service' an electricity sub station... The drive there tickled me silly, It felt like I was on a proper adventure... I have a vid somewhere on one YT channel or another. I tried to do a vid on the KTM there last year but now there are barriers, so it didn't happen!
@MarcusTDM2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it does feel like an adventure. I’ve been there a few times now. First time was like the guy in the camper, almost left it too late! He’d have had it if he’d got a puncture!

People talk about with so much scorn but Essex is so much more I is a magical place that have for nearly eighty years hope no one ever spoils it
@MarcusTDM Жыл бұрын
It certainly is. Sure there's the London overspill side of Essex that tbh can't really be spoilt but the rural side is as special as any of the counties in England. Thanks for watching.

I went to Goldhanger on a school trip, when I was little. I used imagine it to be like Skull Island. I used to imagine that King Kong lived on the island and there was a big gate, when I was a little boy.

How did you get through the barrier out of interest? My wife and I were there last week but once you get to the barrier in the caravan park it stops there. Great video, thanks for uploading.

Yeah you need to get permission. I had to deliver some stuff over there so was a good opportunity to film it.

Can a normal car cross this?
@MarcusTDM Жыл бұрын
Yes, when the tide is out!
@chloegorvett65162 жыл бұрын
Hi can anyone cross it and does it take long
@MarcusTDM2 жыл бұрын
The causeway is a mile long. Technically anyone can cross it, as long as you stay below the high tide line. You can’t just drive across as the land on each side is owned by the same land owner. However you can go there for a holiday. Thanks for watching.

Its a shame but you used to be able to walk across and as long as you stayed below the high tide mark you could walk the whole beach upto the pill box but a caveat of the coastal acces right has prohibeted that now but you csn visit beach by boat or kayak
@MarcusTDM Жыл бұрын
You can still do that. You can walk across and stay below the high tide mark. You shave about 4 hours. Best to give yourself an hour each way to cross and an hour over there on the beach. 👍🏻
@bobtunbridge7996 Жыл бұрын
@MarcusTDM no not anymore there is a sighn that says the causeway is private an you are not allowed access
@MarcusTDM Жыл бұрын
@@bobtunbridge7996 yeah but that’s not enforceable because they don’t own the causeway and it’s obviously below the high tide mark. They just don’t want you going across.
