Camping is fun, especially when you are saving money and there's nowhere else to stay. Not sure that was your case but it's mind-blowing tenting plane-side

Everyone said you need to try it, most say they won’t do it again but we had a blast as we were close to all the action. We looked into renting a new camper that a dealer sets up, but glad we did the tent thing and will most likely do it again. We did have gear weather though so that helped!!!

It was definitely cheaper than any of the places to stay anywhere near Osh! And we had a blast - I think we’d do it again.

So much fun and exciting to go to osh for the first time!! We love watching the planes coming in the most and just seeing all the different planes. Personally I love the older planes and the sea plane base is always Cindy's favorite. When you come to osh again and are near Janesville WI, Bessie's diner is right on the field park your plane and walk right in!! Highly recommend!

Happy Retirement Janice! We are not much campers at all either. But you guys are well prepared with an air mattress and solar charger. How much does it cost to fill up the Tank of your plane?

Yep - the air mattress makes it much more comfortable! The plane holds 90 gallons and fuel averages about $5/gal. So it takes about $400 to fill it up. Ron uses 15 gal/hour to estimate our fuel burn so he can plan fuel stops.

I've always heard people say, "a Skylane is like an SUV. It can carry anything you can stick in it." But of course, that depends on what stuff you are trying to stick in it. Glad you got to experience Osh. I enjoyed camping for a couple days when I was much younger, but I am into comfort these days. And camping turns out to be a lot of work, loading, unloading, then packing up to go back home and then unloading at home. I think Osh would be the biggest reason to camp out so you can be right in the thick of everything.

I agree! We loved our “camp neighbors” and spent a good bit of time just sitting on the flight line with them watching planes take off and land!
