Thank you guys so much for being here❤ I went back and forth about posting this video a million times because I feared no one would understand what I'm feeling. However, I'm glad it's up, and I hope this video helps anyone who is/has been experiencing something similar❤ I'm much better now, but it's a process that will take time. We hope you guys are enjoying 2024 so far and we can't wait to share more of this new phase of our lives this year❤

Such a wonderful video and honest insight into what so many of us experience, no matter the direction someone is taking but especially in creative fields. We definitely understand a lot of what you were saying - especially the loneliness and although we love what we’re doing and each others company, we crave the social connection. Thanks, Oskar! ❤

Have you ever thought of getting a 9-5 job? It sounds like you are the type who thrives on having constant tasks to do and need some type of schedule to be happy. Since you no longer wants to travel frequently, I think it would be a healthier for you to concentrate on something whether it be actually doing a 9-5 job for the moment which I think will help you mentally, or start a new project that you are passionate about. Maybe going back to school would be a good thing for you while Dan does his airline reviews. Check out Tyler and Todd. They started off travel in camper vans and then ended up getting a plot of land in Canada and started to build their channel around construction of their dream home from scratch. If you thrive better at staying put and make steady friends, then perhaps you want to get a place and do home remodeling (if you are talented that way)? People's lives constantly change and there is nothing wrong with changing the direction of Oskar and Dan channel.

We have been travelling for almost 4 years full time now. Unlike you, we are “slow travellers”, which I think makes it much easier. We usually like to stay in one place for at least a few months and do our exploring. This allows us time to relax and make multiple videos about the location we’re in. We do miss our friends and family, and we try to get back home as often as we can, but it can feel lonely at times. Hope you can find a new purpose now that you are slowing things down :)

Thank you so much, Oskar, for sharing your honest feelings in that beautiful video. I have a suggestion for you: why not write a book about your challenge of visiting 100 countries before the age of 25? You have a unique story to tell and writing a book could be a wonderful new purpose for you.

*Oskar, you are not alone either!* Take the time you need and the love from your support system to find new joy in new directions. (And, please keep in mind that the record of your past travels is still providing joy to people who find you two on KZbin.) What you have done is important...what you will do is important! *May you find the peace you are seeking.*

Right now I just want to reach out and give you a virtual hug. Don't sell yourself short: you ARE valued as an important person in the lives of many people. You are a great individual. We are all plagued with self-doubt (heck, I'm 70 years old now and I still have to deal with it). Take all the time you need to work through this. Focus more on your music. Be assured we'll all be here for you when you need us.

I was just about to post the exact same thing. I think we have all gone through this at this very age. It honestly sucks when you go through it, to be sure. But it does get better! And I think we all need to take a minute in our lives and regroup and look at where we are and where we're going--literally and metaphorically. I think you're doing great, Oskar. Hearing what you've had to say I can tell you're going to figure it out. And I'm so grateful that you've had the courage to post this--it's a big help to everyone else going through this. And we all are--or will be--at some point!

I wish I could give you a big hug. ❤️❤️ I think what you’re going through is more common than you know. I went through something very similar at your age. Like you, I studied abroad and then lived in NYC working an amazing job. I’m now a stay home mom which was never on my radar. Big changes are scary and hard but let your heart guide you to what is right for you. I love your travels w Dan but would also love hearing your piano music. Your viewers and fans will be here when you’re ready. Lots of love. 💕

Hi Oskar! You and Dan have gained so much experience through your travels together. You can leverage that experience to create new content. For example: 5 minute micro learning videos on the top 5 favorite experiences in each country. You make one for each country you want to talk about and that right there are 20-30 videos of content. Another suggestion is to have someone interview you and Dan about each country you visited. It could be a series of videos on "reflections from our 100 country travels" There is so much value you've already created. Leverage it to build someone new, like connection videos. I'm sending you both a big virtual hug. Thanks for teaching me so much about the world ❤

I hear you and I see you! I’m gay, loved geography and the cultures that came with it. Also travelled into a deep dark hole around some of the issues you discuss. I questioned my self worth and, at times, felt like an imposter. Difference - I am 60. I wish I had the foresight and introspection you are sharing at your age! I didn't have the tools or insights into myself to do so at your age - it took awhile to get there! Stick with therapy, build your tool kit, make social connections where you live, dive into your music, communicate with your husband, and stick to it one day at a time. It gets better! Thaks for bringing joy into my life through your adventures. Come to Philadelphia - you’ll love it here!

Thanks for the like! My career has been in the heritage industry -- the museums and historic sites I've led support my and feed my love of travel. History and travel has been the salve during dark times. Again, if you find yourself in the Philadelphia area, it would be a pleasure to show you around! :) Hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- it may be a bit distant and hazy, but IT IS there!

Appreciate this insight into what the past year has been. Thank you for your openness and honesty. As you know, 2023 has been a pivot year for us too and a big part of that has been figuring out: who are we outside of travel? Like you and Dan, travel became such a huge part of our identities and how we related to each other, that I think along the way we lost a certain kind of connection. It’s hard to explain to those who haven’t experienced it, but I 100% felt everything you shared in this video. Sending love as always! ❤

Wow. You don’t know how much I am able to relate to this. The big difference is I am 53 and you’re still so young. You see, I worked for a famous mouse in Orlando for 29 years. In 2020 my position was eliminated due to the pandemic. Working at the World was all that I knew. It’s 2024 and I’m still working to find myself. I started a travel KZbin during the pandemic and it has been my “focus”. Luckily, my hubby and I are now following our dream and we are about to move to Bali permanently. I’m nervous and excited for this new chapter. Anyway, all the best to you and Dan. Here’s to the future…AND YOU! Come visit!

Wow! What a wonderfully honest, authentic and worthwhile video! I saw the thumbnail a day or so ago, and was worried, but thenI incorrectly assumed that the title was clickbait, and you were going to say that you’d taken a wrong turn while travelling from one location to another. Now that I’ve watched it, I’m very moved by your words. I’m also mightily relieved that you and Dan are still together. Oskar, you are a terrific person, and I’m sure we viewers would be more than happy to watch whatever content you create. I will pray that you (and Dan) discover what your next ‘move’ is. Thank you both for all you’ve given us. You are loved! I’m in my 60’s, and am very grateful for all you both have taught me. Whatever you do in the future, I, and so very many others, will be.cheering you on.

Traveled 15 years for work. Life changing experiences happened every week. Your eyes, brains and emotions can't take in everything offered on each new adventure. There are sacrifices and compromises that come along the way. At first, seemingly insignificant and a low price to pay 'for all this'. Then the personal costs increase, the enthusiasm drains. The body and mind fail to rebound as quickly as they once did. The things that recharge you no longer work. Eventually spending more time being still, slowing down and finding a place to sooth the mind, soul and body becomes a stronger inner motivator. Thank you for voicing your journey so openly. You are well equipped to make the better choices for yourself. For me, home is living at 9,000' on a mountain, in the middle of a desert in a forest. Occasionally leaving by car to explore and spend time in other natural setting. The breathe of life in these places are life-giving and healing. Life simplified has been the right choice for me. You WILL find your place.

I cannot imagine how hard it would be to live out of a suitcase for most of the year. You 2 deserve a home to call your own and to be surrounded by friends and family. Oscar, Dan.. First, thank you for making us a part of your private feelings and thoughts! I fell like I belong now and that you trust me. Second.. You know what I think when I watch your channels? Here are two awesome men, who are smart, free, resilient, have the right mindset to deal with the entire world and have each other to call mine. Why am I saying it? Cause you are an inspiration that you can do what you want, you can be with who you want. This is a great quality to have and, hopefully, a tiny bit of motivation for you not to question what you are doing. Really love your outlook on life. It's not always roses, so take it and own it whatever it brings. Love you!!!

Hello Oskar this is a message from someone several decades older than you. The most ridiculous of all our emotions is worry. Life is binary. Most of the things which causes us to worry are beyond our control. Let the problems which we can not affect dissolve and let them go. Then only focus on the issues which you can affect. Next learn to understand the importance of being able to shit one's focus. If you can effect even a slight change in one's perspective you will be very pleasantly be surprised. When you do this you will discover the joy of impermanence; nothing lasts. All we have is now. When one really can only live in the now the shackles of the past and the future will disappear and one will discover genuine deep happiness. Once discovered this happiness can be sustained by being kind to those we encounter.

This is a very wise comment. I’m not sure one can learn this other than the hard way though, through internal realisation and making mistakes. Most people don’t even learn from that. But I wish this whole way of thinking and viewing the world was more intuitive so people could learn this without doing it the hard way.

Oskar (and Dan!) thank you for being vulnerable and honest about your experience. I feel like many travel-related channels only focus on the glamorous and rewarding parts of traveling the world, but don't acknowledge the toll it can take on you physically and mentally. I am like you in that I like to have everything planned out in life, but as I get older I'm constantly reminded that so much of life is unpredictable, and sometimes that can be a good thing! I have no doubt you will find your next path or calling. You should feel proud of where you are now - much love to you both!

I always come back to watching you guys because you are genuine, kind humans. Thank you for your honesty! For what it's worth, I'm a nurse and while in nursing school (and in practice) we focus a lot on the the psychosocial stages of life and development put forward by Erik Erikson. For example, I'm married with two kids so I'm in "Middle Age" where the "task" is Generativity vs Stagnation. The virtue is "care" and the main focus is contributing to society and being part of a family. So, this means raising kids who hopefully go on to be good humans and care for the next generation of life and planet! You are in Early Adulthood which ranges from about 19-29. The "task" is Intimacy vs Isolation, the virtue is love. The goal is establishing intimacy and relationships with others. I have a 16 year old son so according to Erikson he is in the "identity vs confusion" stage (adolescence). Sometimes my husband worries about things regarding our kids but I'm always able to keep perspective because of studying Erikson's stages and it grounds me. I'm like, no - they're right where they're supposed to be and this is completely normal development! There's a lot more to Erikson than I'm hitting on here. It's worth a deep dive if you're interested (he was a contemporary of Freud but more commonly embraced today). I say all this because you are in a transition and maybe you are starting to think about the next stage of life a little.

Hi Oskar! Thanks for sharing - I worked in show business in Daytime TV. The most famous show I worked on was Oprah's talk show. After nine years of working there, the show ended and I felt like I lost my identity and it was a struggle. I was able to work on another show with the actress Valerie Bertinelli for Food Network for many years. When that ended, I noticed a change in Daytime TV and broadcast viewership. Once again I felt like I was losing my identity. After journaling every day with my intent and gratitude and embracing the unknown, I'm living out a new dream! I'm living in my favorite city (NYC, Manhattan to boot) and enjoying a new adventure with SERHANT. as a licensed real estate salesperson. I trusted the path of the unknown and I couldn't be happier. I wish the same for you and Dan!

I appreciate your thoughts and how you are going thru the steps to find out where you are in this new role of being … at home. When you switch gears from on the road, travel travel travel, go go go to suddenly being back home, it can be jarring. Like you have empty hands - “ what now?” It is ok. It is a transition and growth for you both. Take a deep breath, meditate, talk about how you feel and find that calm in a stable and safe environment!!!

I retired five years ago, and I felt like "now what?". I'm also a recent widow. After 30 years of marriage, my husband passed away. It was hell on earth for the first year. It's only recently that I feel like I can see some light again. I'm also introverted, and not at all a procrastinator, so I can relate to that. I've found purpose in a new part time job and new side hustle. What you said about gratitude is so true! I'm so grateful and thankful for everything I have. I know I have more than many people do. Thank you Oskar for sharing. I love you guys and love watching your travel videos... and yes, I miss not see more frequently, but perfectly understand. As I watched your video it got me thinking about myself. I currently work as a project manager for a large international finance company and have been at this role my entire career with different companies. I will be taking early retirement next spring as my husband, who will also be retiring this year, and I love to travel and wish to do more. However, I too, just starting thinking about will I feel "what is my purpose" after I retire because I've been in such a leadership role, getting project done for the company, will I feel at a lost of "now what?". I guess for now, my "purpose" will be to enjoy retirement and travel the world with my husband. FYI... over the past 26 years, we have traveled to 46 countries; obviously not as much as you two in the shorter period of time. But an accomplishment to say the least; especially since none of our family members have even come close to how much we've traveled. Anyway, take care and glad that you're feeling better. Live is a balance, so balance your passion for travel, music, etc. Mark

As a pre internet person I find the concept of bearing your soul to the world quite daunting. You’ve achieved a mountain of experiences for a young man and now it’s stops abruptly. My advice is to fundamentally apply patience to your life at this time. The building blocks are there for your next path in life. Try meditating (you probably already are)…patience can be so challenging but so rewarding, take care…

I think during the pandemic I also experienced a similar thing to you where I used to be a doer, now tasks overwhelm me and give me anxiety. Also, if you need to find a middle ground to developing new content but no traveling, I am not opposed to watching vlogs of what you two are up to. I like the travel videos, but I stay for your personalities!

Oskar, I want to give you a hug for being so open and candid about what’s been going on. I am grateful that you feel comfortable with sharing what you’ve been feeling. I retired at the end of 2022 and 2023 was my time to travel. I did a lot in spite of nearly having a full blown heart attack in the summer. This year I’ve already done 3 trips but I’ve been faced with what you described, lack of purpose, I’ve been trying to enrich my mind now that I have the maturity to understand more then when I was in college. Take care of yourself and feel all of those feelings, good or bad. Regards to Dan👍🙏😎

Sincerely loved this video cause it's certainly relatable to many people around the world, that either has gone through this in the past, in the present or will in the future (perhaps) 🙌🏼 Well done for overcoming the obstacle of posting this video too!!! I believe it is for the best of spreading a positive and very purposeful message that it is of value for the viewers ✨🫶 ..who knows...may actually be part of the next puropuse, thanks to the big platform you guys have, since many don't have the same number of people to share what they're going through with ☮

First, of thanks for sharing, I think it's nice to see another side. It might surprise you but many people share similar experiences. The older you get friends move away and life changes. It's part of life. Talking about it is a great first step. Glad you're working on yourself and its ok to broaden your horizons and explore passions!

Oh Oscar! You were so incredibly brave to share these thoughts with us. Thank you for taking us into your confidence in such an intimate way. The two of you seem to have such a deep and close bond and, I have no doubt that you two will work out a path that is fulfilling and profitable for you both. You mentioned gratitude. That is, in my humble opinion, the most insightful of all of life's philosophies. In adapting such an attitude one first acknowledges that one is blessed, but can then appreciate the hardships of others, and your travels have certainly exposed you to that. When I turned 60 I dedicated the year ahead as a year of gratitude. It had such a positive effect on my life, that I decided to dedicate the rest of the time that I have left, to gratitude for all of life's abundant blessings. Be strong. Lean on your soulmate. Cherish the obvious bond of love between the two of you and I have NO DOUBT that, in time, you will indeed find the mission that we are all destined for in this wonderful life. Much love from Cape Town in South Africa to you both. ❤

I commend you, Oskar, for sharing your internal feelings since after your travel challenge. It seems like you're at a crossroads. I think people would LOVE to watch videos about you and Dan. Maybe consider turning the channel into more of a travel/personal vlog. You have the ability since you've been doing it on your travels and I'm sure people would love to see your day-to-day activities, your journey back to the piano, what happens when you and Dan aren't traveling. Well, it's something to consider. I'm sure there would be lots of interest and it might help bring your purpose back, re-energize the channel, and still allow you to travel part time. I'm sure whatever you decide, it'll be fantastic! Stay well, know you are loved. All the very best!

Sometimes the best thing to move forward is to take a step back . Perhaps planing for a few weeks off every few months where you give yourself time to reset , you can schedule uploads during these breaks so you don’t lose your income . I’m an airline pilot and have to take breaks periodically to reset my mind . I take 10 days off every 3 months

You are a talented person. Life is filled with high and low. Take a moment and figure out what is meaningful to you. It could take a month, 6 month, 1 year. But see that as an experience of learning and growing. 10 years from now when you look back, you will feel that this process makes you stronger!

Thank you so much for sharing. What you're describing is being human. People change, our goals in life change. Our interests change. It's normal. In the course of my life, I've been involved in so many ventures. I was a gardener, a dancer, a traveler, a mom. All these things take up different parts of my life over the years. One chapter ends and another begins. You can't stay the same all the time. It's normal to say I don't know what's next at the moment. I'm happy you're back to composing; I love your music. Long winded way for me to say growing and changing are part of life. 🥰

First and foremost, I love your guy's channel. Please don't stop posting. While I didn't have a KZbin show that I was producing, I had a similar road warrior lifestyle where I was averaging every 3 days being on a plane or some form of transportation. I totally understand the feeling of loneliness. In fact, it happens faster when you're on the road because those people aren't part of your daily life, or you're not meeting friends on the weekend to feel like you have that social life. For me, putting down roots somewhere was important. I chose to settle in NYC and keep an active travel schedule with 1-2 monthly flights with trips lasting 3-5 days. I'm lucky enough that in my current role, my company is a remote-first kind of company. Put down some roots somewhere and scale back your travel. I suggest finding something remote. Be part of another travel organization like TPG, OMAT, or Lonely Planet. This way, you can still produce Oskar and Dan.

Thank you for highlighting this unspoken but undeniable aspect of being on KZbin.

Oskar, thank you for giving voice to the feelings that many of us share in these unusual and trying times. It’s important for all of us to remember we’re not alone, which can be very difficult when we’re all stuck behind screens. It’s ironic to think that even people who travel full time can have those same feelings. You’re not alone either. Keep talking and we’ll keep listening and sharing back. 👍🏽🙂
