I always see these products applied to table tops. Is it good for chairs too? If so what is best way to apply?

Apply with a brush. Very little. Almost a dry brushing technique

@bpt0062 жыл бұрын
Yes. But apply osmo with a brush or roller. Not wipe off.

Hi …. Please see the application instructions on the tin. This is not the correct application process. Osmo should be applied with a brush, roller or pad. Work in .. do not wipe off. Apply second coat following denib with fine abrasive. Osmo is an oil wax blend by wiping it you remove the protective wax layer.

The application tool is fine but it should be finished with a brush or pad. The next bit is what confuses me. I spoke to Osmo directly and they say remove excess but not all. Everywhere else says to remove all excess. I’ve been leaving the osmo on the surface for 10/20mins before it gets tacky THEN removing any excess that hasn’t absorbed at that point. I think excess needs to be removed but the surface should still appear wet before allowing to dry over night. Any wax in the product will rise to the top as the oils addear and cure with the grain regardless.
@bpt0062 жыл бұрын
@@antb3334 it won’t all be absorbed in 20 minutes. The product consists of oil and wax. The wax takes eight to ten hours to dry and two weeks to fully cure. Wiping excess is removing drips and pools of oil.

@@bpt006 if you put it on too generously you risk getting un-even areas. A light wipe after 20mins insures any areas of excess are removed / spread. Osmo will still dry over time regardless but you don’t want a skin of excess dried over the top. This is detrimental to the protection given

I’m not sure where this idea of leaving the product for 10 to 20 minutes before wiping off comes from, possibly from danish oil or Rubio Monocoat type products where that would be the correct process. Linseed based products need to be wiped off as linseed doesn’t “dry” if left on thick. Osmo isn’t linseed. It should be treated more like a film forming finish. Osmo is different in application process to almost all other products that are classed as similar. Follow the instructions on the tin. I have had factory training and finish thousands of square meters of counters and floors with Osmo. To get a truly stain resistant finish, you must brush or roll it on. If you don’t, you will be disappointed every time.

@@bpt006 I brush on my osmo with the grain.. fairly thin but leave the top still wet / glossy in appearance. Maybe say that over apply the first coat and allow the wood to drink as much of the product it wants over the next 10-20mins then remove the excess. Apply a second coat the following day. If you apply super super thin , as such ti not need to remove excess.. you’ll need 3-5coats on some projects

This Has to be one of the worst ways I have ever seen to apply a finish. and before you start throwing rocks at me, I have been doing woodwork, my whole life I have my own shop and I spray everything.

It obviously worked well. There is nothing wrong with doing a method you either haven’t done or don’t know how to do. Please save your not useful comments for something else.

@@defaultaccount2022 Lol save your 2 cents for a candy bar, you probably never used a finish oil in your life.
