This is probably the best tutorial I have seen to date for this stove! Most people seem to gloss over one point or another, while this one seems to have covered all the bases - at least where liquid fuel is concerned. I don't plan on using compressed gas, so this is perfect for me.

Thank you for the excellent tutorial: I haven't used my stove for a very long time, and the instructions went missing, so I was very happy to find this.

This was easily the best, most comprehensive video on this stove I've seen yet. Thanks!

Great vid, thanks! I understood the operation and use, but the "common mistakes" part was very useful.

Great job with this video. One thing I've noticed about other videos on the Whisperlite is that everyone seems to think the standard Whisperlite is the same as the Internationale, and now the Universal. I wish they'd be more specific, since the different models can use different fuels.

Great video, also remember to have the fuel line retainer clip on the right side before insering the fuel line as it cannot flip around the back and to clear the fuel line, let it run dry by flipping the fuel bottle over and the white nozzle inside the fuel bottle will be in the airspace bubble then when you pull out the fuel line, there is no fuel that can leak when storing. Am I over explaining?

@nolanosm I ended up getting the Dragonfly despite its cost(twice as much) because when I camp it's usually in fairly large groups and my brother and I take turns cooking... My brother went to culinary school but isn't as comfortable cooking in the outdoors so the Dragonfly was the best choice for me... I have not gone camping with it but yes it is loud(but not really annoying) but I dont mind I figure its a good way to let people know to either get up and help cooking or foods on the way...

I noticed you pressurized the bottle before attaching the line. I have seen folks attach the line before pressurizing and this seems to make a lot of sense - it seems like it would leak if it were pressurized first before attaching but yours appeared fine. Is either way equally safe? Thanks - great video!

condor5635 Either way is safe as long as the valve on the fuel bottle is tightened down so no fuel flows. The valve is before the fuel line so connecting or disconnecting It will not result in fuel going into the line until the valve is opened. It is easier to pump the fuel canister before, simply because you do not have a stove attached to it. If you are doing a long cook, you may have to pump the canister while attached to the stove. Be careful to stabilize the bottle and not move or tip over the stove. It is recommended you also remove what you are cooking before pumping so you do not spill hot contents on your self. Great stoves, I've been using mine for going on 12 years! On a side note, when you finish cooking and are taking the fuel line off, make sure the valve is closed or you will leak fuel from the canister. There will always be some residual fuel in the line that will leak but it will only be a few drops.

how do you depressurize a fuel bottle

i just use 1-2pump so i can simmer. when you prime the stove just un-screw the valve 3-4turns and wait 30sec for the fuel to start dripping. there is absolutely no need to pump 15-30times.

@DanhNguyenster64 I still have not yet decided on this, simmerlite or dragonfly. Any advice?

Does the Whisperlite light safely with a plasma arc lighter?

Putting the cable back in the fuel line may require more than pushing with your fingers. You may need to use a pair of pliers to push the cable back in a third of an inch at a time.

Very informative video but the repetitive background audio really sucks making this a no watch after 20 seconds.
