Review of the Osprey Apogee Daypack which is an impressive 28L all-purpose bag that offers tons of comfort, plenty of space, and a surprisingly light weight. If you are looking for a bag that you can take anywhere and that will come in at a pretty reasonable price this will be a great one to take a look at!
What do you think of the Apogee Daypack? What other Osprey bags should I check out?

Thank you for the video. Your video helped me going for this bag. I recently bought it during sales at a very good 40 euros price and it's really great for work. As a teacher I have to carry a lot of files and equipment between home and school. The mesh side pockets are the best I've seen so far, really deep and flexible, you can really fit big bottles and a bluetooth speaker in them for example (I need a big one for my lessons and it's so convenient!). I can also fit a meal in a square lunch box on top of my files in the main compartment as the bag reaches up in height a little further than most bags I tried before. Now I wouldn't recommend it for long hikes in the mountain if you're small like me (1m 64cm tall) as the straps weigh down a bit on shoulders and weight is not distributed too well on the lower back. I think another minor drawback to consider is the nylon lining the main zipper : you have to be careful or the constant opening and closing of the bag will wear down the fabric. Other than that, versatile and still elegant bag.

This is the best backpack review on KZbin! Great camera angles, and you really let me get a feeling for each of the compartments. Trying to decide/determine the Apogee or the Quasar.
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I haven’t had a chance to use the Quasar just yet but it seems like it’s pretty similar to this with addition of a few extra features such as the bungee cord on the front so it may come down to whether you prefer the more minimal or functional look but both look great!:)

@@dannypacks thanks for the reply. I actually went ahead and ordered the Apogee because of the mesh/vented back as well as the more flush/taller bottle holders. I do wish it had the bungee like the Quasar though.

To clarify, I've become an Osprey fan since I got Kestrel 48 for multi day backpacking trips, so I'm mostly looking at Osprey. Really, really satisfied with the quality and design they provide.

I bought the bag, the one with new letter fonts like this one, in blue. The organisation compartments are great, but the flaws in my opinion are the single zip for the main compartment, the strap ends which have pointy corners and are sharp and the hefty weight of the bag.

@dannypacks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Both of these bags are great daily options, although the apogee is going to be a little bit larger so if that doesn’t bother you it might work a little bit better for minimal travel. The apogee also has more organizational options and better weather resistance since the compartments have a zippered closure. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags!:)

Thanks for review. How have you found the Miir? Leakproof? Heavy? Does it keep water cold? Have you tried it for coffee. I see there is no holder for the cap. Doesn't bother you? Just curious why you chose it. Always looking for a good bottle.

@dannypacks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! So far I’ve really liked the bottle, I use it mostly for water and it definitely keeps nice and cold! I’ve been curious to try it for coffee but can’t speak to how well it keeps drinks warm. The big things that drew me to this one were the appearance (just really liked the shape and all black color), the size, and the wide mouth opening. So far the cap hasn’t really bothered me much and it has been great at not leaking. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bottle!:)

I’ve been looking for a bag around 28L for minimal travel and daily carry. I kinda narrowed it down to the Arcido Oxna and Bellroy Transit Pack for my favorites. Today I saw that Arcido has the Oxna plus the packable Aro on sale for about $120 with a discount code. Should I go for that or hold out for the Bellroy Transit. Thanks in advance :)
@dannypacks
@dannypacks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice! Both bags are really solid, at that price point the Oxna is hard to argue with if you are just looking for a solid bag in that size range that is going to have a simple organizational layout. The transit backpack feels more premium, has more organizational options and I also like the look a little bit better. Overall I guess it comes down primarily to aesthetic and pocket layout, if the Oxnas style works for you and you don’t need the extra pockets than that will be a good one to save some money with, but if you like bellroy aesthetic or you want something that’s going to be a little more rugged then the Oxna might not hit the spot. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags!:)

Thank you for watching and good question! Even tho this is a pretty spacious bag it’s actually fairly slim so if it’s a bulky lunch box it might be a tight fit and may make it hard to use the laptop sleeve and the front compartment. @dannypacks
@dannypacks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I haven’t had a chance to check out the Centauri bags just yet, but the main difference besides the sizing appears to be that this might have an extra organizational pocket in addition to the main compartment which I don’t see in the Centauri. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer!:)

As mentioned in other comments, another good review, thanks. There is another thing I'd like to add that I think you forgot to mention and that's the space/distance between the 2 shoulder straps at the top. In my view, they are not spaced wide enough from each other. When I wear the backpack, the straps touch my neck quite noticeably. I hope this effect becomes less over time. I am curious whether you also experience this problem when you wear the bag! Still, I bought this bag because I believe it's pretty much the sleekest looking backpack for it's size. Also when not fully packed and packed carefully, the sleekness makes it look like it's a 20-25 liter size backpack. Together with the mesh side pockets that hide the water bottle and other gear completely (why don't we see this much more often on backpacks), this bag won me over. My cons: - there could have been more internal organization (there is none in the Main compartiment except for the laptop compartment), - it's disappointing that there is only 1 zipper pull for the secondary compartment, - the main zippers can get stuck fairly easily in the flap (although easy to correct) - regardless of the flap maybe they also should have made it a water protective zip together with the front zip (even though the front zipper also has a flap/cover), - I think they should add strap keepers or some organization mechanism for the straps so that they don't have to be added custom afterwards - the durability of the bag might not be as good as some other bags (mainly thinking of the soft mesh of the side pockets) - and they definitely should have done something about the shoulder straps at the neck part (more spacing between them). Still, I think it's good value for money and a great looking bag for it's capacity. It's been a few weeks since my purchase but am still happy with it. Would love to see a more high end version of this where the issues are fixed. That would pretty much be my ideal bag. Maybe I should have went for the Black Ember Shadow 26L for that more premium feel, but that bag also has some issues and is 3 times the price.

Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience with the bag! Those are some good points, I haven’t experienced the shoulder strap issue thankfully and I agree a premium version of this would be really cool to see!:)
