Ooh, that pool dunk really sold & solidified this review 😳

Nothing worse than thinking somethings waterproof because somebody runs it under a hose on KZbin and finding out the hard way after you buy it! Thanks for checking out the review!

Good demo, Osprey should sponsor you for the sale. If it can withstand Mississippi pool water, its worth a shot.

What is your experience with the water resistance of the standard pack? I’d prefer the lighter, smaller pack but want to know how it would do in the occasional light rain during touring/travel.
@TheOutdoorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I have had some water get though as I was hiking though a drizzle. I think it took some time to pass through with just small amount of water sitting on the bag, but the seams and zippers are probably the first to let water pass. It was this time and once at a lake that made me want to search for the dry version of the pack, which proved to be a nice upgrade. I still keep the original around for quick trips, but always throw a ziplock or two inside, just incase. Chances are with a ziplock for the most sensitive items like electronics, I can easily bounce back if things get wet on short trips, whether it’s a day trip at the beach or a day hike.

Oh man! Exactly the information I was looking for! So the dry is double the weight and 50% bigger when packed. I guess the carry capacity is about the same? So the extra weight is for one more zipper and one more mesh pocket on the other side?
@TheOutdoorWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks for the message that’s why I make the videos! Glad it helped! In addition to what you mentioned the weight comes from the compression straps on the sides that can secure the roll top, the roll top edge is thicker to get a good seal, the front of the pack is double layer of material all the way from top to bottom for the outside pocket, there’s an extra side pocket and the overall material feels just slightly thicker because of the waterproofing and seam seals. You can probably fit just a little more in the dry bag as it just rolls from the top, depending on how many folds and how waterproof you need it to be. I think the standard bag is durable and more than enough if you don’t plan on having to compete with wet conditions as it’s treated me well for years both on vacation as a small beach bag and on business as a small gym bag. Hope that helps!

Where can I buy the "Osprey Ultralight Dry Stuff Pack" of the color you show in the video?
@TheOutdoorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I do not see it available in that color anymore… maybe the color was discontinued last season? I did find it for a premium with two left at the following link, but I can’t verify the company as one I have ordered from in the past. Perhaps some will come available on the used market or resale sites? Good luck in the search, sorry I don’t have a better answer! themountainair.com/products/osprey-ul-dry-stuff-pk?variant=42426912211191¤cy=USD&srsltid=AfAwrE5cnRiiDPLGwMzYSnarjp5RPgzyWQis7j94LXm-AiUmqNS1UIk6tDQ

Is it durable? I want a light pack for day hikes
@TheOutdoorWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I would say it’s durable as an extra bag to pack on the go, whether taking a hike out of a suitcase or as a side excursion pack to pull out of a heavier hiking pack. I wouldn’t use this as a frequent pack for traveling though the woods or brush… I would look more at the day packs by Osprey for that purpose, which would be a little heavier but more sturdy and comfortable.
