Osprey Transporter Boarding Bag

I bought this bag a couple months back and just used it for my personal item on a 5 day trip to Vegas with my smallish roller. It seems pretty close to perfect for me when used with a roller. I put a decent sized packing cube in mine (much like the one in your video) and some other things in the main compartment. The smaller front compartment held everything I needed to access during the flight, and more. The small, lined, top compartment is big enough for my wallet, phone, and whatever else was in my pocket so I had nothing to put in the tray for TSA. I didn't even attach the shoulder strap, since I slid this bag over the handle of my roller and didn't ever need to shoulder it. I used one shoulder strap attachment point to clip on my compressible water bottle. Some people prefer the Ozone, and that does seem nice, but the Transporter can be found for about $40 - 50 less, which to me makes it a simple choice. I had plenty of room for a 5 day trip during the winter (such as winter is in Las Vegas) and I packed a few things that I didn't even wear. I may have finally solved my personal item dilemma.

I’ve been learning that this style bag is better than backpack style (or duffle) for underseat use. Most times one can’t pull the entire bag to access stuff and this bag’s natural position is key.

Hey, have you heard about osprey ozone series? They have a new boarding bag, which look identical. Would be good for a comparison. Thank you for your hard work and enjoy the holidays

Good suggestion, that would make a good comparison. For whatever reason Osprey categorized bags by the fabric type: Ozone, Transporter, Arcane, Daylite instead of the bag style. It's weird because they sometimes have crossover bags that look almost identical, but in different fabrics. I haven't tried the Ozone Boarding Bag, but it looks virtually identical to the Transporter Boarding Bag here. It is 0.5 lbs lighter though, so that's a bonus.

I was just comparing these two bags and it looks like the biggest difference is the ozone bag strap has a somewhat proprietary clip system for the carry strap whereas this bag has standard clips. I'm pretty picky about my straps so that was a no-go for me. The ozone also adds padding to the front compartment, not sure if that makes it harder to pack, I don't personally need it and I'd rather the bag be a bit floppy. I just ordered this bag, this review was a big deciding factor.

I am looking for a bag similar to that but more rigid so it will stand on its own with 4 feet on the ground. I don't need a laptop sleeve but most will have it now so I can live with it. United's personal item size is 17-10-9. I wonder if this bag at 17.7-12.2-8.7 would fit since it can be squished a little.

@@OneBagTravels so that all depens, going on budget airlines such as spirit / southwest you'd struggle. Trying to do it in europe on ryan air / easy jet and the likes, you are up the creek with no paddle. Does it fit under the seat yes. Will they allow you to bring it for free as a personal item. NO would be my guess, since it's way bigger then allowed
