When I was initially searching for a one-bag travel backpack I considered this pack along with the FarPoint. This review makes me so very glad I got the FarPoint. Not that the Transporter is a bad bag at all, but I can see that if one is going to do anything a bit more adventurous, the excellent carry of the FarPoint outweighs the packing ease of the Transporter. Essentially the FarPoint is a backpack that you can use as a suitcase, while the Transporter is a suitcase that you can use as a backpack..

You didn't go wrong with the Osprey Farpoint. It's a great travel bag/pack.

That's a great assessment, suitcase you can use as a backpack

I did a 15 day trip in Mexico, with a borrowed Farpoint 40L, with 10Kgs of total weight. It worked well, and it fit well in the airplane cabin. But I did sweat in the back when walking with about 3 kilometers in the shade. Its fancier airflow stuff at the back was not helping much when it came to airflow. So I am now thinking this Global Carryon will serve the purpose given my use case. Idea is to simply transport stuff in these, with short (~3km max) walks to bus or train stations.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that really does not care for organizational compartments built into a case. I have absolutely no use for that outer to quarter zip organizational area, with pencil holders no less. Perhaps this is because even though I consider myself a one bag traveler I will always either pack in or carry-on a very lightweight daypack which can also double as either a laundry bag or a tech pouch if I put it in my case. I had considered the previous Transporter as I really liked the material. It reminds me of my old long-ago discontinued favourite, the Timbuk2 wingman. Lack of bottle holders and tuckable straps means these things slide under seats and into bins without any snags and I love that. I have no use for the luggage pass through as I haven't pulled a wheel-on in over a decade but if it's there I can live with it, I can always loop a jacket or magazine in there LOL. I actually really like this colour as nearly every piece of luggage I own is black🤷♀️ Just wondering... Am I the only one who always turns my laptop so the screen side is in just in case there's a ding?? Just curious, It's a Bugaboo of mine. Another great review, cheers!

That's a great idea, I usually just put my laptop in whichever way, but now I'm going to pay attention to which way it's facing. Damage can occur even in the most protected packs. Funny coincidence, I just visited the Timbuk2 store in Portland today and bought a Wingman! They must have un-discontinued it. Not sure if it's the same or updated from the previous version as I never had that pack. I'm going to Michigan/Hawaii in 2 weeks and I liked the large duffel compartment. The bottom shoe pocket should be good for wet winter shoes.

@@OneBagTravels I've seen the wingman around... REI even has them in their outlet. I've noticed most of them are a special edition that timbuk2 dared to charge a huge markup on that was sewn with gold stitching .... I even bought a second on discount ages ago as a backup. It's not for everyone, mainly people complain that it is not comfortable to carry long distances as a backpack... The straps are comfortable to me but with no waistband and no weightlifters they're not great for long distances. I try to pack as light as possible and have never had an issue. I'm 5 ft 4 in and it fits me fine. I love the built-in shoe bag and often use that for wet/dirty clothes also. Packing for Michigan (in winter) and Hawaii in one trip can be a challenge for one-baggers so perhaps you'll cover that in a future video! Happy travels!

Great review. I love the no frills, sleek, professional look to this bag.

No frills for sure! Just a simple clamshell pack with good hardware.

Would love if you reviewed the daylite carry on bags (both sizes) from Osprey.

There are so many Daylite packs 😆😆 I've done a review on the smaller Expandable 26+6 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/inO5iJ1par54ea8) as well as the Daylite Duffel 30 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6GnnZ2LeNaYrrc). About the only one I haven't reviewed is the bigger Carry On Travel Pack.

I bought a set of their new style packing cubes a few months ago that I'll review soon. I haven't actually tried any of their new pack lineup, I'd like to check out the Tour Travel Pack and Wander Backpack. They don't have any mid-sized packs though, like 30-35 range. Everything is either small,

Another great review. Thanks! What similar bags would you compare this to?
@OneBagTravels3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Terry! The eBags Motherlode Jr. and Tortuga Setout (discontinued I believe) come to mind. Large main clamshell style bag with a front organization pocket. Cotopaxi Allpa is also similar, but the front pocket is more like a packing cube.

Hi. Great review. I’m looking to purchase the bag but I’m worried maybe my 17.3” (39.7cm x 26.85cm x 2.9cm) laptop will not fit in the laptop compartment. Do you think it will fit?
@OneBagTravels2 жыл бұрын
The laptop compartment is about 16.5" x 11" (42 x 28 cm) So looks like it will fit but it's tight

Would this bag be considered a personal item on most flights or would it have to be put in the overhead bin as a carry-on?
@OneBagTravels2 жыл бұрын
It's a little large for a personal item, but definitely would work as a carry-on in the overhead.
@AuRowe2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely get away with it if you don't stuff it, especially if you have a blanket or something in there to get it even smaller if they try bugging you about it. I've brought this size bag before and plan on using it as my "personal item" but only flying with a few US airlines. If I have any issues then I'll downgrade to the boarding bag

This is a no for me as it doesn't have Airflow system and back support. Unbelievable how Osprey completely leave it like this for a 44 l bag!
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
Yeah, zero airflow in the back. It's good luggage, but not as comfortable as the usual Osprey pack for sure
