The holding capacity of farm land and most greenfield sites is massive. Yet the government are allowing builders to cover them in concrete whist leaving brownfield sites derelict and an eyesore.

As someone who works for tesco I do agree that their profits have been a little bit too tidy. Currently I'm being paid under minimum wage (11.02 vs 11.40 minimum or something) but their new pay rate that comes in at the END of april is 12.02 or something like that which I am digusted with and is probably illegal somehow.. It's frankly disappointing that money like that isn't being put back into the communities and especially their suppliers and producers more. I'm wondering what kinds of profits other chains have gotten.

Great video Olly, "Wow" What a difference finding and clearing the drains has made to the field. Water will always find the shortest route of least resistance and you and the guys certainly gave it a helping hand, fingers crossed in a few days you can get the machines on it and sort out the surface. 🤞👍.

Wahoo on the bumper for my 40th you were close enough in how you said my nickname sounds like the f word but swapping the f with r and o at the end. Great video as always great to see the field has drained so much. Some amount of ground water there but in fairness its rained pretty much since October. Thanks again for all the time you put into making these videos highlight of my day. 💯 % today was on the bumper 😊

There is a book called Capitalist Realism by Mark Fisher that speaks about the ways our economic system is connected to our mental health. It’s a bit arty-farty, and obviously lots of people will disregard it because it is anti-capitalist, woke leftist whatever, but it really is amazing, also for reminding us that there’s no shame in being unwell mentally. Fits well with your “answer as a percent” idea (not too high a percentage for me today - I know my employers are planning redundancies and my industry as a whole is struggling, so it’s a bit bleak, but I have a good support network and things that bring me joy)

One thing to remember on Tescos (and most other large companies) the majority shareholders are the large pension funds, so a lot of that profit comes back to the people in the form of pension growth. Now it’s nowhere near the £34 because people take there cut before then but some does return

That trencher is the same design as the original Shelton trencher. David Shelton used to store it at my dad’s farm back in the 90’s. He ran it on the back of a Unimog because it was the only thing that could lift it and go slow enough. I did a few jobs with him, mainly back filling with stone using a hopper on a three point linkage which had a narrow shoot that deposited the stone right in the trench. We would then deposit topsoil on the stone using the same tool. Very clever man.

The supermarket model (keep everything they sell as cheap as possible) works well for the shareholders, and some would say the consumer, but it completely ignores the suppliers on every level. The supermarkets only pay just enough to keep their suppliers going and no more. Somehow suppliers need more selling/negotiating power to combat this situation.
