OSRS Fortis Colosseum - Mid Gear 29min Run (No Scythe/No Blood Fury) w/ Live commentary

Turns out, fang is kinda cracked! Tons of supplies left over for mistakes, tickeating, or additional combo burst food. Definitely would recommend more combo food.
In case you ever mess up and same tick a shaman as your current southern stack, I highly recommend focusing the mage down + brewing as needed while killing him. Focus on praying higher level threats, if your southern stack is still healthy. The mage only maxes a 28, allowing you to likely kill him before you need to brew, if you're at 80hp+.
During Sol, I was trying to explain (before I got interrupted by the chaos) that for enraged parry, you can use the exact same timings as pre-enraged parry, but swap out the very last protect melee for redemption. Once redemption pops up above your head, protect melee (you do this to have a reliable in-game method of "feeling out the ticks" for the delayed last parry.)
Here are the upgrades I would recommend (besides the obvious scythe) -
1. Ferocious Gloves/Torture
2. A good shield such as crystal/DFS/Dinhs to force tank north, in case offticking manually is too difficult.
3. DPS Specs such as claws/VW to make waves 6, 10, and 11 smoother.
4. DWH/BGS to make your bosses more smooth. Not too much of an issue for an experienced player to take longer at the boss though.
List of things to do before boss:
1. Tag Sol for tiles.
2. Check if you have volatility or quartet on.
3. Check your hotkey binding for "equipment" to counter grapple.
Corner Dodge Method (props to xzact's stream) -
1. If Spear 1 just occurred, dodge 2 tiles sideways from boss.
2. If Shield 1 just occurred, dodge 2 tiles directly away from boss.
3. If any #2 just occurred, dodge 1 tile directly away from boss.
Regular Middle Method -
1. If Spear 1 just occurred, dodge 1 diagonally away from center.
2. If Shield 1 just occurred, dodge 2 tiles, centre away from boss.
3. If any #2 occurred, dodge 1 tile, centre away from boss.
After Pools, you can always do an L outwards to dodge both spear 1/spear 2, as he is forced to do spears.

For a player with similar gear but not an iron, what would you say would be the biggest upgrades without dipping into mega rares/torva?

I have colo specific upgrades in the description, but for a normal player you'd probably want to rush for a bowfa/full crystal ASAP due to it's flexibility in other content. Spec weapons tend to be where you'll spend money until you're willing to go for mega rare items.

do you think this is a more consistent setup for first quiver even if i have max mage also have ven bow dwh sang and blade for sol or would i be better off bringing my max mage setup with a full switch of full melee and ven bow dwh

I personally think melee setups are better. They have a lot more space for supplies and it's easier to remain potted for waves, whereas you're more likely to take damage in mage robes, and then need to brew down + not be able to heart again. Sang is also preferred for first quiver simply because it's a 1 way switch and makes it easy to handle fremmys while praying.

i was trying melee for my first quiver, but i kept ending up with manticores and stuff that needed dragged to be able to melee them, which made me tank/potentially die to the stuff east of pillar. for 1st kc ranged or mage is probably easier, atleast for the waves. the solves are more simple and you can deal with more situations without fancy footwork.

how do you know when its okay to click back to the boss so he doesn't run at you? and also the melee parry any tips for timing?

It's built in as almost muscle memory from P2 verzik, I recommend just believing and clicking early when you've gotten a decent grasp at the boss. Parry takes practice but it's best to watch his energy sparks behind his spear if you're a visual guy.

Yes, fang is a decent bit better for most of the wave mobs. It's mildly worse for the lower def mobs like the 1x1 mage, but not by a significant amount. It's also very convenient to do 5t flicks with, so I'd recommend using fang for waves entirely unless you have a better 5t weapon (scythe/shadow/tbow). Or are willing to use venator bow with ranged switches.

I personally really liked it because it's the setup that gives you the most amount of supplies. As long as you have 1 way switches for the fremmies it's also very good DPS if you can adapt your solves accordingly.

@@ReynoldsFoiled Might try that. I got over 100 deaths and never getting past wave 10. I bring 4-way Mage (Eldritch, Occult, Anci Top + Bottom) with a 4-way Ranged (Venator, Masori Top + Bottom, and Assembler. I’m 5 brews, 1 super combat, saturated heart, and rest restores.

The new eclipse atlatl is a 2 shot with piety on so also a good option instead of bp

I didn't even think to use piety instead of eagle eye but I've been trying that (although no sgs so bp spec is nice for healing). It's also kinda nice to use on mobs when you can't quite reach them. I wish the range was farther and that it was more accurate though. I mean melee strength gear has either 0 or negative ranged accuracy so idk what balance to take.
