Soulreaper Axe Colosseum Guide (OSRS)

First Colosseum guides I made were on release and no changes had been made to Colosseum yet, or Soulreaper Axe. I figure it was time to make another one. With the spec changes to Soulreaper Axe, it makes it within 10% of Scythe and a mid level budget option for melee Colosseum.

Start at South Pillar at either the B5 tile, or my SPEED tile. North pillar has unsolvable double stacks, and you can't 100% Mage block the Minotaur waves. This makes South WAY easier for learners. I don't know why people suggest North when it is factually the worst pillar to learn on. You lose a lot of safety and pillar rotation options, and you coin flip whether you can stack the Shaman behind Minotaurs. Don't fall into this noob trap.
Ancients is trolling. Stop bringing barrage into Colosseum. It's like bringing Justi into Inferno. Melee is by far the best style. If you want to bring TBOW and 4 way Shadow fine, but thralls and death charge are supreme, and death charge gives you more healing than Blood Barrage will give you throughout a run via SGS.

Not that many, considering it's closer to scythe than saeldor in terms of hours to acquire, but it is a fun item. The drop mechanics are the most anti-uim shit ever though. If the fights weren't fun and ultor wasn't good, then I'd never have killed any of em tbh outside of CAs.

3 weeks ago I commented on your TOA Wiki guide video that I hadn't really watched you since I thought your content was mostly for elitists/HLC players and such. Well today after 5 days of grinding melee only colosseum using your SW pillar tactics, I killed Sol on the third time I got there. It took me 120 deaths. BUT someone like me with no prior inferno experience, no high level raiding and no deep understanding of tick mechanics prior to entering colosseum managed to do it. Did it cost me a lot? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. The feeling was amazing! Thank you so much.

Great guide! I started doing the colosseum having in mind to farm it with the soulreaper as it is a great money maker these days, but i lost motivation after seeing how hard it was. Somehow, after 7 attempts i got to the final boss with only 1 brew and even though i thought i wouldn't do it i got the kill. That was on beta worlds with scythe tho, but then tried main game and got the quiver in 3 attempts. Now i just got my second kc a few hours ago and im trying to refresh everything and remember all the solves as now I'm definitely going hard with the colosseum and doing a soulreaper rebuild:)

Gnome Monkey, what are your thoughts on the corner L movement method for Sol? It almost feels like cheating since the only attack you have to move differently for is Shield 1.

I think the L movement method is trolling. It moves the boss too much and causes issues for learners.

You don't have to remember previous attack, and you wouldn't die the first time :) Don't have to move the boss either, you just start in melee on the corner, do L once, and get back in the normal cycle

8:25 when the shaman is in front you can make the ranger path next to the shaman behind the pillar by going on the side tiles, but it doesn't really help you if there are more enemies stacked behind that.

Thanks for making another guide on this. Always learn a ton from your vids! One day I’ll work up the courage to try this lol. Two questions: 1. I remember seeing other people saying that said you should start moving on a specific tick at the start of a wave. Is that something you’d recommend? Or just immediately attack mage and run while praying? 2. When do you summon thralls? Is it bad to just do that immediately at the start of the waves or would that delay you?

1. People are referring to the offtick method on North pillar which I vehemently suggest you don't use for multitudes of reasons 2. Try to keep it up and don't overcast it and waste prayer. Beginning of wave is fine if it ends up that way

You can't splash, you always max hit if correct style on the Frems.

if you start sol with stacks, you lose all the stacks without regaining the HP, I think it's a "different instance" due to the fences or something, can't be too sure.

At 25:15 you say after each lightning phase he will switch to a spear attack. Thats not correct Unless im dumb. Im pretty sure sol will always keep his last attack in mind when throwing lightning. He will always spear 1 after 3 attack and take off x attack. Great guide either way

6:10 your logic here doesnt make sense, you want to avoid picking tier 3 invos if there are other acceptable options as you leave the 3rd tier invocation in the pool and obviously if youre considering picking the t3, its a “good” invocation you want to leave available in the pool if possible.. you end up later in the run rolling 3 bad invos on wave 6 because rather than leaving flare3 in the pool to possibly reroll it later youve taken it out of the pool.. Tldr for learners it is always better when given multiple good invos early, always prioritize having at least 1 tier each of multiple good invos (to influence rerolling t2s/t3s later) and avoid taking t3s unless its the only pickable option.

It makes sense because I got extremely unlucky this run for invos without resetting the run completely. I had to pick Solarflare 3 because I had no other viable option, which gave me a chance to get 3 (hopefully) good invos, instead of S3 and only 2 viable picks. If I didn't pick S3 I would have shitty invos and could have also NOT rerolled Solarflare 3 and got boned even more.

Weird that you're using an Atlatl here. For the same budget you could just bring Dragon Boots and drop the DWH, and you'd be able to afford the Venator Bow. Or, better yet, drop the Sang Staff for a Trident and then keep the DWH and Prims and Venator Bow. The Sang Staff heal is relatively negligible since you only shoot it twice at the start of each wave. No way the trident -> sang upgrade is more impactful than the Atlatl -> Venator one.

They are both two hits regardless and Sang healing is still relevant. Venator bow stops working well when you end up having to take Quartet because of the way it bounces.
