i have my main exam in two weeks and never came across such a good way to explain bones, its always like the textbook pictures leave something out or state the different kinds of bone development and direction and histology layers as confusing as possible :D But one thing is wrong: Mesenchymal cells are not equal to mesoderm. Mesenchymal is just "not epithelial" tissue -> no horizontal cell-cell-connections, no polarity (apical and basal) etc. . Thats what the primitive streak for example does -> it changes the epithelial nature of epiblasts into mesenchymal, migrating cells. Mesenchymal cells can derive from all kind of embryonic tissue, take for example the vicerocranium its bones are made of neural crest mesenchymal cells ( Meckel-Cartilage, Reicherts-Cartilage).
