This ossobuco estufado ( beef shank ) recipe is simple to make. The meat is deliciously seasoned and cooked low and slow until perfectly tender. Sauce was rich and flavorful just perfect for mashed potatoe and steamed rice.
INGREDIENTS :
- 1.5kg beef shank ( 3 pcs osso buco )
- salt and pepper, to taste
- cooking oil
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 med size onion, peeled and chopped
- 1 med size red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 pcs carrots, cut in cubes
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- salt to taste
- sweet paprika
- 2 cups beef stock. 1 beef bouillon cube diluted to 2 cups hot water
- 1 cup water, adjust as needed
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
MASHED POTATOES:
- 1 pack instant mashed potato mix
- fresh milk
- butter
- salt and pepper to taste
