In this video I show how to remove the blender cap to access the blades. (I apologize for not mentioning this in my previous video demonstrating how to disassemble the blade assembly.) :/
My channel contains video reviews of products I own & have purchased with my own money. I am not in any way affiliated with any company that manufactures, sells or represents these products. My intent is to be helpful in sharing my own experience with these products. It also contains DIY projects that are for craft and/or information purposes only and should not be construed as expert or medical advice.

FOR ANYONE WHO TRIED IT THIS WAY AND IT DIDNT WORK... I had been struggling with this for days. I finally figured out a solution. Put it back in the motor base (unplugged) and carefully but forcefully turn counter clockwise. Having it in the motor base will give you the grip you need on the threaded jar bottom to unscrew it!

I bought this blender just the other day and was baffled by the clip thing. As you mention, there is nothing in the manual that is helpful in any way. I am amazed at how tight you have to screw the base on to prevent leaking. Also a bit of a warning... do NOT use carbonated beverages in the 'to go' cup. The released gasses increase the air pressure inside the cup and it's not long before it starts to leak, especially when you remove the cup from the base. The jug works fine as there are the slots in the jug lid assembly that preclude the gas buildup you get with the 'to go' cup. Having said that, I am having a blast making slushies out of different flavours of various carbonated beverages such as Orange Crush and lemon flavoured carbonated soda water. I also make a Mocha Ice Cap copykat that is spot on in recreating the delicious beverage sold at Tim Horton's Donuts. I am already saving a ton of money by making these beverages instead of buying them. I figure the blender will pay itself off in no time at all. I also make mundane, but tasty, milkshakes and iced/slushy coffee. I am for now at least, a happy camper. Thanks for the video, it helped!

You're welcome! I love this blender, use it every single day. Thanks for the tip on carbonated beverages. I add a healthy dose of Kombucha to our smoothies in the morning which is fermented so it has plenty of natural carbonation going on. Good to know! Thanks for watching! :)

You're welcome! Glad I could help. :) Yea, when I first got this blender last year, I couldn't figure out what that little lever was for. But it works great, now that I know how to get the cap off without such a difficult struggle! (Be sure to check out my other video showing how to put the blade assembly and gasket back together to prevent leaks.) Thanks for watching! :)

I know, right?! I couldn't figure out what the little lever was for until I read a Q & A on the Oster website where someone else had asked what it was for. It makes life a whole lot easier when taking the blade assembly off of the jar but they never mention this in the owner's manual. :/ I'm glad my video was helpful to you! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you didn't break your blender! :D

@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 5 жыл бұрын
I don't have a part number for the jar. It's the only one Oster has that fits this blender model. They used to be available on the Oster website but I suspect it has been discontinued. I don't know for a fact since I do not work for Oster nor have ever sold their products but I checked the website about 6 month ago and they had almost nothing available for this particular blender. You might try looking on ebay for a used one and cannibalize it for spare parts.

how often do you need to disassemble it and thoroughly wash it with your amount of use?
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 7 жыл бұрын
It depends on how often you use your blender. I use mine every day and disassemble it for a thorough cleaning maybe once per week. If you make more than just smoothies like pesto sauce with garlic, hot soups or spicy things like salsa, you may want to do it frequently to make sure you don't have any food particles building up around the edge of the rubber gasket. Thanks again for watching! :)

My blinder got broken so i want to remove the cap but i can't it's rusty what to do
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 4 жыл бұрын
The cap is plastic, not metal. Is it the blade assembly that rusted? Have you ever taken it apart before? If not, I'm guessing there's probably a food buildup stuck between the cap and blades. If it were me, I would try spraying WD-40 around the cap so it can seep down between the cap and jar, let it sit overnight with the blender jar sitting upright (not upside-down), so the WD-40 can sit in there all night long. The next morning turn it over and try again to remove the cap. It that doesn't work, contact Oster for advice on how to fix the problem.

If it's the black plastic cap that is stuck, try setting the jar back onto the base as mentioned by another commenter, then using the jar handle, turn the jar to unscrew it from the cap.

@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 5 жыл бұрын
Oh no! You could try the hot water method. Pour some hot tap water into a bowl large enough to hold the bottom of the blender jar, about 2-3 inches. Let it sit in the water for 1 minute. Then remove from the water and place a folded dish towel or washcloth over the jar cap for a better grip and try to unscrew it. Remember to also hold down the locking lever as you turn it. Another trick is to use a thin piece of rubber or silicone used to open jars. This will also give you a better grip on it. I hope some of this helps. :)

@helpfulnatural 3 жыл бұрын
If your blender runs fine without it, then you wouldn't need to do anything. The lever unlocks the plastic cap on the bottom of the jar. You can also use the blender base to remove the cap by simply setting the jar onto the base, then holding the base with one hand and using the jar handle to turn with the other hand, the cap should unscrew from the jar. If you want a new cap you'd have to either contact Oster or look on ebay for it. Hope this helps.

What model is your Oster blender? If it has the black cap on the bottom that holds the blade assembly in place, then you would just unscrew the cap to remove it, the blades and gasket. The Pro 1200 is the only jar that has the locking latch on the cap. Hope this helps.
