I’m so happy you found these bags! I switched over to them about a year ago and they have been a game changer! Everything (showers, swimming, working out, etc) has been revolutionized because of them. One tip I would say: try not using the barrier spray or powder unless you have current skin irritation. It helps these flanges to stick better because they have no fabric tape and are made from hydrocolloid. Plus, it’s two less steps for you. :)

As a sample I got the Sensuro Mio one piece. The filters work, at least on these samples. Also, the adhesive is so gentle, and seems to incorporate a barrier ring. I cut a hole in the material where the filter is so the gas can escape without the filter covered.

I just got done commenting on your video from three years ago when you tried the one piece by Coloplast and I suggested a two piece to you and then also the brava protective seal and then all of a sudden I’m going through your videos and here comes the two piece that you’re trying! I’m so happy for you and this was two years ago so I can’t wait to see what you’re using now lol I’m just trying Coloplast for the first time with the convex one piece and I absolutely love it and I did come from Hollister to peace as well and everything you’re saying I pretty much am in agreement with it all the time. Also, you can Velcro it up underneath the regular flap at the bottom, not just up in the middle just to hide the Velcro clasp. Instead of the paste that you use try the brava protective seal 12035 is the number! It is phenomenal I mean I went to peel my bag off because I use a one piece now and that was still attached and you have to use like a remover wipe or something like that to remove this brava protective seal because it’s that good so not only have you got the way for that’s not going anywhere but this protective seal gets right around your stoma so that that isn’t Bustin loose at all underneath. Wow, I was super impressed. Again I am in the trial phase of Coloplast for the first time coming from Hollister two piece to a Coloplast one piece. The one thing I did see in your video that I’m going to look for is the barrier spray! I did not know that that was a thing to protect your skin but I also have the strong stick from the wafer and protective seal that I’m using. That is perfect. Thank you for all your videos and your honesty and information.

I use the same system. When you showed the bag with the velcro strip, there is another on the bottom. You can fold the end up under the the bottom flap of the bag. Also on the very end of the bag, when opening to empty, you can fold the bottom flaps on the little velcro and the outer layer of the bag stays clean.

I really like the Sensura Miss! Just a couple tips you or someone else may want to try. I always cut the pull tab off the top of the barrier before I put it on. This way it doesn’t catch on your clothes and pull. Second I noticed in all your recent photos you always have the tail dangling. There’s a little Velcro tab just inside the bottom cover so you can fold it up one more time so you don’t have the sharp edges irritating you and you don’t have to see your output at the bottom. Lastly I find the circle pre filter always gets clogged quickly and the extra layers of plastic cause pancaking. I cut most of the pre filter and tape the ends to fix this. I got the idea from a video on KZbin. I can try and find it again if anyone wants to know how. It’s very easy and works on one piece bags as well. Thanks for the great review, glad to see you’re enjoying them!

I am trying the SenSura Mio convex flange for the first time. I have to cut it to fit my oval stoma. Does it have to fit exactly around the edge of the stoma? I think I have seen some videos leave a little gap. Do you know if I use a Brava ring does it matter if it lays over the edge of the stoma a little. I fear making the output push under the ring. I don't think the paste laying over the edge of the stoma would causes any problems.

I'm sure someone has already commented, but I don't see it so I'm just going to add it in case! On the longer part of the opening to empty those bags it has 2 small "Velcro" circles on both sides of the "back". You can fold that longer part back and seal it, which makes the opening a little stiffer for emptying. It also creates a nice little tab to pull the opening apart while you squeeze it, which I think makes it much simpler to open! Let me know if this makes sense or if you'd like me to attach a video that shows exactly what I'm talking about! (You might want to PM me if I miss any questions, as sometimes it gets hard to check when there are a lot of comments, like Amber often gets!)

Thank you so much. I'm trying to take care of my elderly mother from recovery of surgery with neuroendocrine cancer in the intestines. I'm so overwhelmed because number 1, the Tpn bags for nutrition, number 2, figuring out leaks on the bags. Her stoma is more of a football shape for some reason. Idk. But that definitely also rises as a problem to the measurements. We have a somewhat of a traceable stencil, but, not always accurate and my poor mother has embarrassing leaking. I'm at home out of work for the week to help her, but idk if we're going to find a sure solution to prevent the the leaks and practice hygeine by the time I got to get back to work. Otherwise, again I'll have to stop working again. Any advice please?
@wmden1
@wmden1 2 жыл бұрын
Hello. I happened to read your message. It sounds like your mother has had a loop colostomy, which is football shaped. My wife had the same type. If you don't mind, I might could help a little with a couple of suggestions that worked pretty well with us. Try cutting the hole for the stoma just a little small. After cutting the hole in the adhesive barrier, save the clear plastic sheet after you remove it from the sticking surface. It is probably transparent, or close. Before sticking the bag on, place the transparent sheet hole over the stoma to get an idea how close you are to getting a good fit. If it might be too small, carefully figure out where you need and draw the spots to trim the hole in the plastic sheet as best you can to get a good fit. If it works out, use the plastic sheet as your stencil and if you can, line it back up on the adhesive flange and trace it onto the adhesive surface and trim the hole in the adhesive barrier to that shape. If the adhesive barrier fit looks good, save that cut plastic sheet as a stencil for the next bag change and just trace that stencil onto the still stuck on plastic on the new adhesive barrier. Save the plastic from the new bag for a maybe better stencil, after you pull it off and stick the adhesive barrier on. It took us a few bag changes doing this to get the best fit, and I numbered and saved the stencils in the order in which I cut them, until we got the best fit. Save the best fit stencil and keep it safe, is about the last suggestion. I may not have explained it well, but you get the idea and probably can do it better than we did. I sure hope and pray this works for you.

I see they also have a two-piece that instead of clicking on, it sticks on. I think it would be less bulky because it wouldn't have the plastic flange, wondering if you have seen it or tried it?
@stevetucker3853
@stevetucker3853 Жыл бұрын
I’ve tried these- they’re called “Mio Flex”. They are actually more bulky than the ones with the flange. The sticky surfaces that connect to each other (one on the barrier and one on the pouch) stick out quite far from the abdomen and show through clothing much more than the one piece mio or the regular two piece with the plastic flange. I suggest sticking with the plastic flange if you want a two piece, or, for the lowest profile pouch in the mio line, try the one piece.

I'm a caregiver to my mother who has an ileostomy. Have been changing her bags for 4 years. Bags always lasted 7 days, no leaks, would change them just because of the days. For the past month I have been going through hell. Bags are leaking and have had to changed them every two or three days and today it hasn't even been 12 hours. I can't figure out how we went from 7 days no leaks to leaking in 12 hours. There are two things I noticed different. One, her skin seems to be less tackly(even a word) usually if I used a dry paper towel you would feel some friction or stickiness. But now her skin seems as if polished, really slippery kind of and only under the wafer area. The second thing is I feel little lumps under the skin. Wondering if any of these two can be causing problems? I only use alcohol wipes to clean her skin and water. Then dry, apply eakin ring and a mio one piede bag. She also has a skin fold from her belly button towards the stoma which I fill in with a quarter of an Eakin ring. But this has been a constant since day one. And we never had this issue. Wonder what can I do to make her skin more sticky so the wafer will stay on and not leak. Bad enough doing it every 7 days, now everyday is driving me up a wall. Any ideas?

Hey there! Have you used an adhesive remover wipe? I know it’s not adhesive but those help my skin feel more “rough.” Also they make a spray on adhesive that helps the skin become more sticky. I am so sorry this has happened. Please email me at ostomydiaries@gmail.com if you need more help! I know Hollister makes the spray adhesive. Trust me it’s VERY sticky lol. I hope this helps. 😊

I use a mini enclosed pouch hollister brand with the ring it’s been 6 weeks and I now got the pimple things starting that hurts and the stoma looks bigger and it burns a bit now. I go to my stoma nurse tomorrow. I never heard of the paste you used and looks easier than what I have to do. I have terrible anxiety and am scared. I can’t take anymore pain! This was an emergency surgery from an acute diviculyerlitus shock and surreal experience

I’m so sorry you are struggling. The paste is on Hollisters website and you should be able to order a free sample. Sending you prayers and love! Hang in there!

Love, LOVE the MIO....but - and it's a big BUT....leaks, leaks, LEAKS - from the wafer. The wafer adhesive is non-resistant, and let's fluid pass right through it. If any effluent gets even slightly under the wafer, the leak will very quickly spread across the wafer - and out onto your clothing!! It's the wafer adhesive and the rediculously small wafer size that is the problem. When the wafer is on, you've not got much wafer area from your stoma to the wafer edge, so a leak only has a small distance to travel before its across and OUT the wafer edge. Yes.....the wafer FEELS sticky, and it is, UNTIL any effluent gets under it, then it just gives way. What has given these companies the rediculous idea that a smaller circumference wafer is a good idea? It's NOT!! I want a large wafer, for more security and confidence. Teddy UK xx
