I really agree with what hanzer said about aesthetics it really sets osu apart from other rhythm games and I think it's an important aspect of mapping because it can offer you a sensation that you wouldn't normally get in your standard rhythm game

Mustaccio Personally, I don't give a shit about the visual aesthetics of a map when I play. Either its fun to play, or its not. That said I can respect good looking maps, but if its not fun, I'm not going to play it and will be at least somewhat annoyed at it not being fun for me because I always hope I will enjoy every map I play.

I've started making maps, and I find myself going back to change things often, and Implement new ideas I've had, them immediately change them to make more sense, and to give more to the song. I've actually looked at maps more now, just by watching the collection of videos on this channel, and it gives me clarity of what is important in a song, that could be mapped... now I love HanzeR even more. These days its all about pp and pp maps and Im not gonna lie, I do play those maps but at the end of the day, after playing the newest, hottest Sotarks map I cant help but return to HanzeR or Axarious or Skystar maps. In my opinion those 3 have influenced the mapping scene considerably and even now for me their maps are probably the most fun.

Well yeah, generally metas seem to influence in almost every game and when you go out of meta then there will always be haters and so on. It's pretty interesting though how the mapping has evolved now in 10 years. After around 5 years passed, the maps began to become harder and harder. What we see now? I better don't comment about that. :D At least I began to map when the phase "maps getting harder and harder" was still on progress, aesthetics are a nice thing to have.
