just a little addendum that I'm posting here to actually get, like, any viewers yeah star rating is sad (and so is pp) but the difficulty icons have actually received a change pretty recently. they changed the star rating cutoffs and most of my Normal diffs show as Easy now (I primarily play on lazer now) lol Easy: used to be

I discovered your mapping videos two days ago, and have seen all of 'em already. This content is so valuable, specific, without being unfriendly to watch. Thanks a lot :). My question would be: What's the best way to find competent people to help you with your mapping? As you said somewhere, it's hard to receive good mods, you always end up asking other beginners just like you... It's really dissapointing, since you learn and go further on your maps so slowly.

I'd love to hear what you think when making a beatmap, kind of like what a cs player named natosaphix did a while ago where he basically played a full game mentioning why he made certain moves or what he made wrong. I think that would be very informative even to someone that has yet to learn the basics. Love your vids pishi keep 'em coming

Since i watch this video i think i overmapped my beatmap it supposed to be normal but because i want all beats (very fast beats) to have a object in it so my normal diff become like mazzerin's promethean kings difficulty
@danielyuan9862
@danielyuan9862 2 жыл бұрын
Technically the definition of "overmapping" is mapping notes that don't exist in the song. However, it does seem like you are mapping more than ideal for normal difficulty. In the video pishifat did about overmapping (and undermapping), he's saying that you can do either of those as long as it's for a good reason (like being able to represent the music better, etc.). In one of his videos, pishifat also gave an example of him mapping an easy map for a song and showed that he's undermapping all the time, but an important factor is that you should have even less notes on "calm" sections of the song.

Since easy difficulty can't have anything remotely confusing, how would one map that difficulty for a song that is musically very complex, like unorthodox/varying time signatures and constant BPM changing? Combine that with potentially crazy intensity in the music and I have no way of seeing how to properly reflect the song in an easy difficulty map (isn't that what mapping should be about?). Just theoretical questions.
@pishifat
@pishifat 7 жыл бұрын
haven't seen anyone try to map something so complex that an easy is impossible, so i dunno
@taru4635
@taru4635 7 жыл бұрын
I see, thanks for the reply. There are definitely some experimental branches of jazz, progressive metal and breakcore that would be a nightmare to try to simplify at all.

this is stupid but i have a really hard time deciding when to put a slider i dont want my map to end up a hitcircle only map, so when exactly should i put a slider? the song never sounds like it has a hold in it
@asmylia9880

you said, that the easiest map just needs to be simplistic, but as far as many people told me, the easiest diff MUST HAVE 2 Stars or less (they quoted the ranking criteria, at least they said so) but for example could be a 3 Star Hard simplistic, too, so what's right now!? I also know many ranked sets where's the easiest a 3SR hard (and are NO marathons). so pishifat, what's now the truth?
@pishifat
@pishifat 7 жыл бұрын
that "2 stars or less" thing will likely be changed in the future. the current ranking system enforces it, along with a low level of simplicity. a hard can be simplistic, but relative to a normal, it's not simplistic. the same argument could be held for hard vs insane or insane vs extra. the type of simplicity that's required is talked about in the video any ranked sets with a hard as the lowest diff are too old to matter

drain is total play-time of a map. if you /drain/ out the unmapped intro, outro, and breaks from a map's length, you'll have its drain time

So, to combat the problems with Hard difficulties, is the solution just to make more diffs in between Normals and Hards?
@pishifat
@pishifat 7 жыл бұрын
if mappers made their normals slightly harder, it would be an easier hump to overcome. making difficulties inbetween is what some mappers need to do when they really screw up spreads
